My TV blew up!! I am so happy!!!
I had it given to me by a relative and felt obligated to keep it and use it but the picture has gone!!!! Now I can turn it into a pot for a plant (ornamental) and give the parts to a neighbour who loves to fiddle about with electronics.

Today, it was flowers – roses, geranium, bottlebrush – to dry and put in potpourri.
I must have looked a sight – trudging around the yard followed by four cats in a line, with a miniature pony following behind them!   -

Looks like a Castor Oil plant – they stink when you cut them. Don’t put it straight in the bin, put it in a plastic bag and bake it in the sun for a week to kill it – you don’t want it to grow anywhere else. Or burn it! 👿

Honestly – I just gave it all away and became a Vegan – if I can’t bring myself to kill/process an animal, I don’t eat it.
Just me, I’m not saying what anyone else should do.
I worked in the dairy industry for many years and always had a problem with the new calves being taken from their mothers. 🙁
I would suggest writing to the…[Read more] -

Hi Muddyfeet, no I did not read your post that way, I am always cheered by people passing on the things they do to get by.
Thank you for the tip re: travel, I did not know that.
We are getting along ok, I have switched to a Vegan diet for health reasons, which has cut the food bill dramatically. I am glad I no longer drink alcohol or smoke – I…[Read more] -

I did see a copy of “Grass Roots” magazine with a lady on the front cover who grew coloured cotton – a few years ago. Might be worth contacting them?

I live on $440 per fortnight, after paying electricity.
Out of that $440 comes 2 weeks rent, food, telephone, car expenses and general living.
I shop carefully, only buying when items I need are on sale and I buy most of my clothing through a charity shop.My housing is of a poor quality and medical expenses can be devastating; a visit to a…[Read more] -

Big houses scare me.
I do love an old station homestead or a farmhouse, but the new, huge modern houses are not for me. How do they keep them clean? How does a person pay for something like that?
I went to a fairly upmarket suburb of Sydney on a weekday afternoon once and there was not a single person to be seen – were they all at work to…[Read more] -

I am definitely going to try one of these recipes.
Today I grabbed a can of commercial furniture polish that was in our cupboard ( it was here when we moved in ) and sprayed in on our lovely timber sewing machine cabinet – five minutes later, I am feeling nauseous, the stink of the stuff is totally overpowering and has gone through the…[Read more] -

Yes. I also talked my 79 year old Mother into watching it, as her Husband of five years is a Racist with a capital R and has brainwashed Mum into hating Muslims and she has even confronted women wearing the Burka and told them “Take the bloody thing off and you might be able to see where you are going!”
Now I know she is elderly and uneducated but…[Read more] -

Just remember Wazza – you may be in a caravan park but crocodiles don’t read signs!! My brother in law camped at Boorooloola many years ago, in a caravan park and woke up in the morning to find a huge croc drag mark right through the centre of camp – he slept on the roof rack of the landcruiser after that!!

We went without TV for a few years, due to remote living. While we did still watch DVDs which we hired when in town, basically we were free of commercial TV and Pay TV.
Now we are living in town and have one TV on free-to-air and one for the Playstation 3 and watching DVDs.
EVERY time we watch a program we complain about the ads, the noise, the…[Read more]

I think it is much more difficult for younger people trying to get a start. I have family members, a young married couple with 2 small children, who are on an extremely good income but have no idea how to control their spending.
They are not stupid, just uneducated about what is important and what is a waste of money. For example, they have…[Read more]

I think the joke is on us, the every day consumer. We are inundated with marketing campaigns that tell us we need more. better, newer and most of the population falls for it.
I and my child live on less than $30 000 per year. To me, $150 000 is unimaginable.
It is extremely difficult to go against the “normal” trend of work, consume, die! We are…[Read more] -

I learned to never again rent a house without a legal rental agreement – especially from a Landlord who delights in bulldozing an acre of 60 year old Apricot,Apple, Pear, Fig, Quince and Plum trees and a beautiful 50′ Grape Arbor that you have spent 8 months renovating, caring for and have just picked the first of the harvest from. The day before…[Read more]
