Hi Guys, just had my first look at the site. Looking good. When you enter into a topic/thread, is there anyway I can get the conversations to go from newest to oldest, rather than the current oldest to newest?thanks

Hi Janine,
a system can be equally expensive or inexpensive. If you are lucky and have a creative sense you can make a system out of almost anything. There are hundreds of examples on the Backyard Aquaponics forum (members systems. The most expensive part of ours was the greenhouse, but we were aiming for a specific look and feel. Our system…[Read more]

replied to the topic Sausages, does anyone here make their own?? in the forum Homecooked food (Recipe Request) 9 years, 2 months ago
we have made sausages using kangaroo meat and duck fat. Pork fat is not necessarily the only fat you can use. We didnt want the port fat over flavouring the kangaroo meat, duck fat was the next option.
you can have lots of fun making sausages. First time round, i think everyone breaks the casing at least once.

Hi Lollie3, i wouldnt normally plant carrot seedlings, they dont transplant very well. It is much better to use seed for any root vegetable as it doesnt take much to damage the root when transplanting. I planted corn last weekend and it is poking out of the ground today.
good luck

HG, we can pretty much grow anthing providing the conditions in the greenhouse are right for that veg. Growth is dependant upon the balance of the bacterias etc. if it is balanced then everything is fine.
Currently we dont have fish, too hot for trout, so we suppliment by using seasol and using wormwee spray etc. we try not to us chemicals as it…[Read more]

Hi Good Lifer,

please just be careful with wormwood, especially if you suffer any skin conditions. We had a single wormwood plant, both of us reacted badly just by touching it.

We are heading over to Tassie in February for a weeks holiday. We have been looking at properties about an hour or two out of Hobart. But would be greatful of any suggested areas, as this will be the first time we have been over to Tasmania.
