  • my son manages the dairy /freezer section at Bilo and it’s a crime the amount of stuff they bin because its just over the use by date. It has to be binned even though staff would happily take it or even distributed to the homeless. One of my other kids did night fill at Big w for a while and the same thing happened there- once things got past a…[Read more]

  • I bought mine at homeart for $29.95. I have used it a couple of times to dry tomatoes and am really happy with it. It does have variable temps as well. 🙂

  • Keep it coming people! Yep we have had 3 or 4 hols down there and I think we have seen more of Tassie than Qld. so we know we want to do it and it will be the best in the long run.I know when we have been down there on hols before I had no desire to return home- it’s just the getting there that’s the hard bit but with all your kind words and…[Read more]

  • Not sure if this applies to turkeys but one of our chooks had sour crop and would dribble when she put her head down.she seemed ok just a bit quieter than others. The fluid that comes out really stinks as it is an infection in there due to a blockage. Have a look on Backyard Poultry – there is a lot of info there and online help from a vet. Hope…[Read more]

  • All my kids have jobs at Bilo and 2 still work there and I was amazed at how downright nasty(crazy) people can be. My kids used to come home with stories that would make your hair curl. I just don’t understand how anyone can be so vile and still be in their right mind. It would seem they attack the poor staff in the supermarket as nobody else…[Read more]

do the eggs taste strong? nobody likes to eat our duck eggs- I use them in baking etc but wondered if they are ok for brekkie. i would like some geese when we get to Tassie for grass control as well as an interest and it would be good if the eggs were nice. Was surprised to see how much grass they can consume. 🙂

  • After years of helping kids with spelling and the frustration of teaching them the millions of spelling rules and their thousands of exceptions I had to laugh BW. One day I wrote down the word phetion for my SIL who continually goes on about how we should be teaching kids phonetics and how we don’t teach kids to sound out. Had her stumped.

  • Speaking from recent experience ,I wonder if there was a death in the family and they were just desperate to get rid of stuff. Hard to imagine somebody who has an older machine like that who also uses weights though. Hang on- that’s me! I know when my mum recently passed we had to get her stuff out of her rented home quickly so it was a case of a…[Read more]

lovely healthy animals Mauzi. We thought about getting a dexter when we get down there – a smaller beast to keep the grass down and to give a bit of milk. I really want to have a go at making cheese. But we have no idea about milking etc so might need to pick your brains when the time comes.:)

  • We’re getting rid of lotsa stuff too, BW in anticipation of our move to Tassie. Not paying to move stuff that we haven’t used for years. It will be lovely to have everyone home for Christmas.I’m a thrower , DH is a hoarder- I reckon that’s half the battle with living an organized life- not hanging on to stuff that you don’t use.Easier said than…[Read more]
