Our rainfall has been up and down this year. It went from extremely dry in September to very wet in October.
The high rain in March was from the remnants of Cyclone Debbie.October 31, 2017 at 4:38 pm #610677
I took the liberty (I hope that’s OK) of moving Activity from under the Login menu to a position in the main menu and renaming it to Recent Activity.
I also changed it’s visibility to logged in members only.
The reason I did this is because I like to see all the recent comments even if they were made on a really old thread. At the moment, Activity is the only way I can find these. Recent topics only list that, not an old topic with new comments.
One other change I made was to make the Logout menu item only visible to logged in members. Makes no sense to have it there if you aren’t already logged in.October 30, 2017 at 9:32 pm #594455

[quote quote=593094]What is a keymaster ?[/quote]
A keymaster can modify the backend of the site as well as the usual admin stuff. They can delve into the wordpress side and modify the layout of the site.October 30, 2017 at 10:59 am #587351
I have a couple of suggestions.
- In multipage threads, the newest post is on page one which is sort of counter intuitive. This probably is the same reason for the listing of the comments as we’ve been talking about below, the comments are sorted in descending order instead of ascending.
- When I added a comment to one of my multipage threads, when I saved it, the page refreshed on the last page which was the oldest comments. I had to select Page 1 to see my new comment. This would probably be to do with the sorting as well.
- I’m wondering whether we could add a search field on the right hand side of the menu bar. That way search is available on all pages.
- Could we have an option on the home page to view latest comments (similar to the latest topics option)?
- Do we have words for the about us and FAQ pages? In the short term, I’m happy to modify these to remove the commercial aspect and just put under construction on them.
What do you think?October 30, 2017 at 10:46 am #587317
Should fire this thread up again. We had a couple of visitors today, they came right up to the house. We live in town so wallabies aren’t that common.
This looks like a mum and her teenager.October 27, 2017 at 9:03 am #551678
[quote quote=551464]I have just noted that in this thread, I have a hyperlink to click which blocks that created acc ‘Richard” .. & Andre’s ..but its not there on Dan’s & Steve’s ..[/quote]
I think it has to do with what permissions Dan gave us. There seems to be three areas, forum roles, community roles and user roles. You, me and Dan are keymasters under the forum role, Andre, Lady B, Geoff, Wombat (Nev) and Lolly (Linda) are admin under the user role. (I added Wombat and Lolly, Dan) The column on the left seems to work off the forum roles and you can’t block admin.
Probably something to check as any of the admin shouldn’t be blocked.
I believe Dan has restricted access to this thread but I wonder if Andre etc can still see it if it also works off the forum roles?October 26, 2017 at 12:31 pm #547574
I’ve been impulse buying. I shouldn’t call into a nursery on a whim.October 26, 2017 at 12:22 pm #547573
Hmmm, I’m a bit mixed. I like that the original post is pinned to the top of each page but having to go from the top of the page where the latest reply is to the bottom to add a comment isn’t so good.
I think I’d like the newest comment at the bottom of the list so it’s right above the comment entry form. It would be good if when opening the post, the screen defaults to the latest comment position if this is possible.October 24, 2017 at 1:10 pm #546203
Just got an email when you created this thread. Wonder if all members did?October 24, 2017 at 1:05 pm #546202

Hi AUSSIEDOWNUNDER, you have to use the direct link for photobucket i.e. without the URLs or img tags.http ://i956.photobucket.com/albums/ae46/millys7700/001_9.jpg (without the space after http)January 4, 2016 at 9:24 pm #538437

ballamara, my fandangle gadget tells porkies so I also rely on the old rain gauge. It seems to agree with the BOM readings so that gives me confidence in my figures. 🙂
The electronic rain gauges are prone to spiders building webs inside and slowing up the tipping mechanism (like a seesaw).
