without knowing the exact ingredients and seeing it in it’s cut state, it’s a little hard to tell, but it looks like it’s heated up and sweat, exuding glycerine on the top.
Being a milk soap, was it insulated? If so, this is def. “sweat” and won’t necessarily re-absorb. It could also be a larger amount of unsaponified fats within the soap, so…[Read more]

Forest Raven, could you perhaps blitz your tapioca in a blender?? see if it can become finer? Or perhaps it is Tapioca starch, but a much higher grade marketed as natrasorb?

Forest Raven, if you only use Melt and Pour soap, to make your soaps and not do any cold process to sell, you don’t have to pay for the NICNAS licence so you’re $400 better off. Its only for people that manufacture, such as using an alkalai with an acid 🙂 We have to pay the same rates as concreter’s! :O
Melt and Pour soap is already made,…[Read more]

FrootLoops, try digging down a little ways and doubling the wire, but bring the wire folded horizontally into the chookpen across the floor a little bit, and bury it. This is how we used to do the chook wire when I lived on a bit of property to keep the foxes from tunnelling in. Unfortunately small terriers and foxes can also climb, so if your…[Read more]

My beautiful dog decided that the chookies were extremely interesting and decided to have a nip one day.. she ran past and nipped as she went.. was a definite and clear clash of her teeth, but she didn’t connect…she wouldn’t dare while I was there.
I got angry at her and made her come and sit down and she cowered the ears, and soppied up the…[Read more]

This is what Im thinking of getting.. looking at the motor size, and having bought stuff from Innovations before, it seems like it’s a good thing. It comes with all the attachments, and it’s got a good warranty on it, and the price is not too bad… however, I’d only use it for soap mostly, but on the odd occasion possibly cooking. I’ve looked…[Read more]

I use pallets 🙂 free from the backs of some industries 🙂 I have cut them to size, and have them sorted nicely so that there arn’t any gaps in between, and where there are gaps between the slats on the top of one pallet, I have covered it with a little salon cloth so that protects their feet. Poo is cleaned out on a daily basis, so that…[Read more]

ok, so here’s how it went… heated said oils, and mixed lye and water outside, and waited for both to come to good temps to mix.. so this is where it all went’ well, rather…. didn’t go according to plan. 🙂
Mixed the caustic into the oils, and voila.. went instantly hard, and was grainy… so.. Next step.. PANIC!!!!
Grab the stick blender,…[Read more]

Selling soaps, if you make them the CP or HP method require registration with a govt body called NICNAS. If you google it, you’ll find it straight away. If however, you do melt and pour soaps, you won’t have to register, UNLESS you make other things in the ranges of skin care etc.
For registration you will need a Tax ABN, which if you are…[Read more]

when I did my garden 2 years ago, we made a planter box (big one) out of some gal that we had lying around, and coated it, then put cardboard boxes in the bottom. I called the local nursery who had good soil for vege gardens, so perhaps you could get a small load of this stuff if you’re close enough to a nursery, just to mix and “prop up” your…[Read more]
