Ew Robyne, I haven’t turned that much to the dark side.

Does anyone have a popular facebook page or some other social media forum I can post my crowdfunding link to? We’re getting some interest but not anywhere near enough.

Hmmm, I’ll try not to 😉 I’ve turned to the “dark side” where image is everything and the truth is based on how much money you have…I figured if I can’t beat them….

No seriously, I’m looking to make my hobbies pay for themselves, and I’ve always loved chasing…[Read more]

Start small and keep stockpiling each week you go shopping. A little bit at a time adds up. Think about when this thread first began; imaging how much food you could have stockpiled by now if you had bought one can of food each…[Read more]

I support firearms laws in their CURRENT format. Restrictions on semi-automatic rifles was the best thing this country ever did. If you have a valid reason for owning a semi-auto then you can still get one.

I disagree with restricting ammo sales to only calibre’s that you own. If I want to shoot a mate’s 22-250, I also shouldn’t have to borrow…[Read more]

The wife has another sewing machine on eBay. It’s a lot newer, a BERNINA – BERNETTE 55.

At the moment the highest bid is only $2 with one day to go. She will post Australia wide.

We know this machine is a good unit and worth a lot more because her mother bought another one of these machines new.

BTW, we got over $300 for the Fowlers Vacola…[Read more]

As much as I profess the absolute need to prepare with beans-bullets-an-bandaids, I do agree in part with this article.

However there is a large caveat associated with this agreement. Shannon’s well-meaning friend was right to talk about the possibility of future calamities to come. A flood is a terrible disaster, that’s for sure, but they are…[Read more]

She also has an old sewing machine for sale too. Only one day to go. It’s one of those old, all metal machines that you wish you could buy brand new these days.

I’ve had quite a few people buying my eclipse glasses since starting my eBay store, but an interesting statistic is that at least 70% of the buyers are women. I’m assuming they are mums buying them to protect their family, as the women seem to buy in bulk lots, where’s the guys are just buying ones and twos. Most of the female buyers are also in…[Read more]

I booked my accommodation at Port Douglas two years ago If I hadn’t there’s no way I would have got anywhere even half decent.

And I’ve recently booked my flight from Sydney and a hire car. You can’t be prepared enough for these things.

Don’t expect too much when observing aurora from southern parts of australia. If you do see them, they will most likely appear almost colourless, sometimes with a hint of green and deep red. If it’s a big display the colours will be more prominent, but don’t expect anything like the photos you see of aurora borealis.

My father tells me of this method used by his mum when they had excess eggs, however they used vaseline to coat the eggs, then placed them in a sand bath until needed.

They only used these eggs for baking. They did not use them to cook as fried or scrambled eggs; while the eggs are still ok, the taste and texture changes so much they are no good…[Read more]

Heads up! Fairy Meadow Woolworths has fancy shmancy jasmine rice at $8 for 10kg. I’ve never actually seen rice less than $1/100g before.

Don’t know if this special is replicated at other Woolies outlets, but would be worth a look.
