replied to the topic Saving seeds from plants that have 'gone to seed'? in the forum Vegetables 12 years, 6 months ago
Also 1 more question 😉
Should I be pulling the plants out that have gone to seed? Or leave them there?I do the “No dig” thing. Just cut the plants at the base once the seeding is over and put into the compost. The roots will decompose in the ground.
Self seeding rocks! I hav’nt planted Tatsoi, lettuce or rocket now for two years and they keep…[Read more]

I use lemon juice (when there is excess) instead of bleach. Works quite well as long as you don’t let the mould get too bad.

I have just been grazing and ate some snow peas and cherry tomatoes. I really need to find some more things to do with chili, capsicum and silverbeat! (or find someone to swap with).

replied to the topic Do you keep track of when your big bills are due. in the forum Living within your means 13 years ago
If you are very good at NOT over-spending and you have a mortgage then I’d suggest a redraw. My partner and I put all our money into the mortgage then pay the bills as they are due. This way the money is always there when needed for bills but also we are saving money on interest as you don’t pay interest on the money in the account. We have around…[Read more]

Can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on some sugar-cane. My stevia is growing awful slowly:noapprove: and my partner is desparate to try growing sugar cane.

Hey There
I live in Kwinana (south of perth) and have been working on my garden for two years now. I have been waiting for the weather to cool before planting too much at the moment. However, I have found that egg plants and capsicums seem to do really well in this heat. Also beans and peas. We use shade cloth and areas that do not have full sun…[Read more]

I am growing Soap-wort. It is getting close to the stage where I will be able to harvest some to make shampoo. I was wondering if anyone has tried it? and can it be used in other ways eg as a hand wash etc?

replied to the topic what to do with onions, dog poo and citrus? in the forum Fruit, Vines, Nuts and Sprouts 13 years, 2 months ago
Thanks for the suggestions :D. I will have to try a worm farm. I have been putting small amounts of onion and citrus in the compost. I have read that it deters earth worms though.
