I use a Firefox extension called NewsFox. I have far too many blogs that I follow and enjoy to remember them all without help! 🙂

I’m a bit late, but I use what is known as a Fido jar on some websites. This website convinced me:
http://www.nourishingtreasures.com/index.php/2012/07/03/sauerkraut-survivor-final-report/I’ve been making sauerkraut for a few months now, most of them turned out fantastic (except one which had a dodgy seal). I had so many of these jars around the…[Read more]

It’s so nice that they’re available here now! I ended up getting one as DH was visiting family in the US, so I ordered a couple so he could bring them back in his suitcase. Only, they arrived at his Mom’s house the day after he left to come home! Argh! Still, they were nice enough to ship them over. Wasn’t the cheapest way to go..
Still,…[Read more] -

They call it Two-tooth at our local supermarket (when they have it). I cooked it like a normal roast lamb (a little oil, salt and rosemary on top) and it was just beautiful. I’d buy it again anytime! 🙂

Yes GirlFriday, that’s so true! On that note, never ever attempt any DIY plumbing late on a Friday afternoon just before a long weekend. 😉 Even digging a new trench in the garden at that time is a dangerous activity. lol

I can suggest positivly identifying the critter in the ceiling before spending a week making and painting a lovely new possum home.. only to find out it was rats after all! Hehehe.. yuck!

You’d have to be in the NBN rollout area to benefit anyway.. and I know where we’re moving to there’s no NBN planned there at all. We’ve got the wireless router option instead of a phone line, and going with Kogan 6 gig plan. Gunna have to reduce the amount of internet we use though, as we’re with Internode right now with 60gig!
Playing with the…[Read more]

Ha, not us yet! We still come “home” to Stawell and feel like we’re living in relative luxury in comparison to the “farm”. We can turn on lights here and electricity comes out of wall sockets, taps into the kitchen – with pressure too! 😉 Some day we won’t come back home, and then we’ll be walking some talk for real. lol

We finally got a ceiling fan installed, and this is our first summer using it. It’s lovely! No air-con or pool here either. I hate the heat, too! The ceiling fan is installed in the bedroom, so it can be left on low most of the night and we can actually sleep.
We got our little “farm” this last winter, and we’ve been up there on a few days where…[Read more]

Oh cool. I’ve been working on an XP machine, so I was in that mindset still. After having some issues today with themes and such, I can only suggest that there might be a service that has been turned off (like happened to the computer I was working on today).
I’ve given back the computer and am glad to be back in Ubuntu Linux land once again.…[Read more]

I think if you search the start bar for “run”.. then you can run “cmd” and should get the prompt.
I started out the same way, with an old XT and a monochrome monitor. 🙂 Then the family got a 386 and the whole world opened up. Couldn’t ever imagine filling a 1gb hdd – wondered why people got them! Got a 14.4k modem and a 1x CD ROM. Cost a small…[Read more]

You can try raising the nesting boxes off the ground so the chookies will have to jump up to get in. Also, you could turn them around to face the wall, so the chooks have to walk behind them to get in. I also put shade-cloth over the nest box opening with a slit to let the chooks through.
The other option with nesting boxes is to make a roll-away…[Read more]

Hi Len,
There is only one thing I can think of.. you’re right, sometimes after removing infected files and such, windows can be missing files. I’m not sure if it’ll fix anything, but you can try the System File Checker. It’s part of most Windows systems.. From Wikipedia:
Usage
In Windows NT-based operating systems, System File Checker can be…[Read more]

Does the company you’re getting solar from require to see a permit? Have they asked for anything?
Our place doesn’t have a permit! It was here before the council was. 😉 No issues with solar installation or anything else for that matter..
Seems strange.. is it just a Qld thing perhaps?

Hey Len,
Before giving the computer to someone else to fix, there’s another thing you can do.
You obviously have internet with another computer at the moment? Please try and download the Avira Rescue System. http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-antivir-rescue-system
It’s free. 🙂
