my dehydrator was an 86 landcruiser till the gear box went now its an 96 tarago. all you do is wind up all the windows with a small half centimetre gap put trays on seats and turn or stir twice a day bring in at night only draw back is if you need to use the car. most stuff dries in a day so I plan my drying round my car use.

update to post below a neighbour today told me his mum uses the oil from the seeds as a moisturiser so I just googled that and it is very good apparently for dry skin so there you go you could make your jam or jelly or and crush the discarded seeds to make moisturiser, thanks Bel for bring that to our attention I always looked at them as a nasty…[Read more]

pancakes, muffins, cake mix, we even dried blueberries to add to the muffin mix (had access to a lot of blueberry’s one year.) but the best by far and only premix we still make is scrambled egg mix with dried tomato, spring onion, mixed herbs and egg. I have done this thread here about it I must advise storing in glass jars as mice rodents and naïve marsupial carnivores all find it so irresistible they will chew through anything (ie plastic) to get to it.

Hi all again have been looking heaps into this on the net and thought some maybe interested in an article by world wide wattle were they are looking at building a food forest for chooks to naturally scavenge there food as part of this they trailed edible wattle seeds to judge which were best suited.

their paddock has two strings of electric fences but one goat has learned that it is solar powered and only has 3 good shocks then needs a few hours to recharge in the mean time the shock is quite tolerable and just pushes through the fence and then the others follow, today with no real sun at all I watched said goat testing the fence then push…[Read more]

Duck found a home today through the local shop today I mentioned they were available when I picked up our mail and went to work got a call from the shop to say someone higher up the valley was looking for some ducks and he came after work to pick them up, so good out come in the end.

how does it handle fire could a serise of small bon fires char off the weed and seeds? WARNING some plants example blackberry grow back stronger after fire as the fire changes the pH of the soil so look into that first. could also use a flame weeder.

If you add lavander or orange/manderin peel to vinegar (a lot of it) and leave it a while you get lovely smelling vinegar you can use to add to rinse water (dishes or clothes washing) or when cleaning :hijacked: :whistle:
