Thanks Steve 🙂
I should have been more clear, it’s not back burning to prevent bush fires. It’s logging and burning forests for energy/electricity etc. The government should be giving intensives for energies sources like solar, not the destruction of more native forests, particularly when it’s part of clean energy…[Read more]

I have to agree, the flaked quinoa is quite bland. I use white quinoa, the whole seed. Takes a little bit longer to cook, but it’s worth it.

Congrats on all the positive changes you have made
I spent a lot of time experimenting with quinoa for breaky. I’m not sure how I came to this mix, but I think it’s really nice. Cook equal parts quinoa and brown rice. In summer I normally do a big batch and keep it in the fridge. Then in the morn, I put however much of the mix I want into…[Read more]

It’s finally eased up for us on the Gold Coast, although everything is horribly damp. I had to wipe mould off the top of the fridge yesterday. I’m fast running out of dry/clean clothes too
I had a small heart attack a couple days ago, half asleep sipping my morning coffee, just happen to glance outside to see water lapping at the front…[Read more]

I’ve been wondering the same thing. We haven’t really had a summer this year. We had one hot week, but its been staying in the mid 20s mostly. It’s 24 today when normally it’d be 30+ this time of year. I think we’re in for a cold winter.

Just wondering though, (since it’s been years since we’ve had a kitten) Does anyone know when I can start her on our own foods? 🙂
When my cat was a kitten he was having a lot of trouble putting on weight because I was feeding him commercial food. It wasn’t until I started feeding him a combination of raw eggs and…[Read more]

Calendula cream will heap to repair the skin while chickweed cream will take away the itch and sooth the skin. Vitamin E cream is good too. Some naturopaths will make a vitamin E cream base and add calendula and chickweed extract to it.
Dairy is usually a causative factor of dermatitis in kids, so even just cutting back his dairy intake may be…[Read more]

My friend got flooded to the roof top in the Bris floods and his passion fruit vine survived. That’s functional and would hide a fence 🙂

Last summer in all that rain, I put strings up around the house and dried everything that way. It looked like a washer womans cottage or something
I would love some rain, send it here! In fact, I just want it to storm. It’s been so humid we need something to break it.

 Bluewren.
It does blow me away when I’ve got my loose veg all over the check out counter and then I see someone behind me holding a single apple in a plastic bag.
I’m more inclined to think that food waste is the lesser evil because the packaging is full of who knows what kind of toxins and chemicals. The more people don’t buy things…[Read more]
