I think you can put them in casseroles.

I’m here too. I had to change my password to be able to log in properly though. Thanks to those who said they changed theirs and then had no worries logging on 🙂

We saved for the past two years to do a big US holiday and now that we are home we are back to saving for future renovations around the house. I’m trying to be very frugal at the moment because I’m not currently working (I work casually in school terms and this is a slow time of year for me) and DH’s overtime hours have been drastically cut (we…[Read more]

I am not an alarmist nor do I run around like Cock Robbin screaming the sky is falling but I do believe the world is headed for somewhere very unpleasant, somewhere it has never been. We are new to this whole broody chicken thing and we have not had much luck so far.
We had a RIR rooster with two Sussex hens and a half dozen commercials. One commercial went broody and hatched one egg out of the half dozen she was sitting on (she had over a dozen at one stage and we joked about her wanting to raise her own army), but the…[Read more]

Hubby wants me to have the gun for protection as well as being able to hunt. We do get the odd feral pig out here, too. I would have no qualms about using a gun for protection but I’m squeamish about killing for food silly enough. Dad taught us girls to shoot when we were kids but it’s been more than 30 years since I’ve learned that I’ve lost…[Read more]

My husband and I were talking yesterday about his belief that it’s time for me to learn to shoot and get a gun licence. I was telling him about this thread and how it’s been a long time since anyone has posted here so I decided to come back and bump it back to our thoughts.
We have recently come back from our second trip to the US and we were…[Read more]

I’ve had a Shark Navigator for the past year or two. I bought it at Big W but was dismayed to see they’re half the Australia price at Walmart in the US  Before that I spent almost $800 on a Hoover Hygiene + from Godfrey’s, I think it was the biggest waste of money in the world. I put up with it for a few years until I couldn’t bear it…[Read more]

You can open up Woolies and Coles’ online shopping sites in separate tabs and compare from there. It’s tedious and time consuming but I’ve done that sometimes.
I usually end up going to Woolies as we have 3 to pass here before I got to a Coles. We will have a Coles opening up near our closest Woolies sometime this year though. We don’t get…[Read more]

My ladies don’t get to wander our 5.5 acres because of our dogs so are confined to a 11m x 15m (I think) yard. They eat the grass that is in there plus whatever pokes through their fence from the vegetable garden. I have planted some things along their fence deliberately for them to have, such as the ceylon spinach that they go mad for. The…[Read more]

Make the most of the rain that you do get Judi, especially if you have a rain water tank.
Townsville has had next to no rain with the exception of very isolated storms. We got 17mm two nights ago yet about 20klms up the road someone else said they had over 30mm. I’ve had to resort to putting the sprinklers on in the vegetable garden in the…[Read more]

In Missoula (Montana, U.S.A) on and after the 2/1/12 fuel was $2.99 a gallon (about 75c a litre at time of purchase with the exchange rate). Prices were similar everywhere else we travelled in the States, with usually the dearest about $3.20 a gallon.
In Townsville this morning I noticed that the fuel at the BP on the Bruce HIghway at Deeragun…[Read more]

Interesting, but slightly frightening, reading if this is really true.

We’re going on a long-saved-up-for Christmas trip to Disneyland so that’s our present. So no presents to bother about here.
But, I made a chocolate cake today using a new recipe to donate to the school’s cake stall at an upcoming fete (I was going to freeze it then ice it on the day). I left it on the bench to cool while we went horse riding.…[Read more]
