How is that forecast looking now    I think that the labor-greens alliance is a disgrace and the worst government this nation has ever had. My forecast is that the labor government will go down in flames in the coming weeks. If they change to krud as leader he will send it straight to the polls where they will…[Read more]

Tent pegs wont hold them. When they get some wind behind them there is a huge amount of force to restrain. I would go for as solid a mount as you can get. I would think the bricks would be OK. Most times you see the metal poles concreted on an angle against the anticipated force of the sail to stop the metal poles being bent under high wind.…[Read more]

I expect luxury items and anything not produced locally would rise significantly in price due to fuel supply uncertainty. I will be filling out my garden as best as i can to get some more vege patch area and then work on some aquaculture projects. I will be trading my petrol V6 on a diesel 4cyl very soon.
In my case i cant realistically protect…[Read more] -

Its an OK place. I have been there a few times. I picked up a few mower catchers as egg boxes for the chooks. I also found a pair of nice wodden gates for the side of the house which i havent put up yet. Some stuff is just junk but there are a lot of recycleable gear if you have the skills.

Townsville is a large city on the coast in tropical Qld. It also has a large army base. The night life there is very intense with lots of testosterone fueled soldiers and public drunkeness. I find that the city is too hot in summer and the night life is not my cup of tea. I dont even know if Townsville has a university. I have never heard of it if…[Read more]

I could be interested in a couple of sussex chooks. I can only have girls though so i might have to wait till they develop and see if you still have any. They would make a good looking flock with what i have now.

This ‘tax’ will have zero impact on the level of pollution produced by the target companies. Their production levels will stay the same and they will pass on the extra cost to us. This is a blatant socialist wealth redistribution scheme driven by Bob Brown. He has Labour over a barrel and he is pushing his own agenda while Labour cops the…[Read more]

You wont find bananas in Bunnings in QLd because of the requirement for a permit. You will have to find someone near you with a decent tree and harvest your own pup to start off your own banana tree grove. This is what i ended up doing and it worked well. I have two bunches of ladyfingers hanging out the back now.

Its the way we are going here. I am an environmentally minded person who is obviously into self sufficiency but i am disgusted by the current political style of the parties that should best represent me. Socialism is being embraced in Australian politics and the nanny state is the new revolution. Welcome to being told how to live by the powers…[Read more]

I am only judgemental after seeing him set his lawyers onto dozens of other people like you and me for doing what we do. Go setup a facebook page about your vege garden and use the words urban homestead in the title and you too will get to feel his love when he has your page shut down.
He is trying to claim ownership over something that is not…[Read more] -

Urban homesteading as a term has been around since the 70’s. There were books titled that released then. He has tried to turn his garden into a money spinner and that is Ok. What i dont like is how he has gone after anyone else using the term urban homesteading with threats of legal action. He has also registered his garden as a church to get ‘non…[Read more]

I think the problems come in when you become used to living up to your income level. We used to be like that. Our combined income would be 2/3rds of that figure and before i saw the light we managed to get ourselves into bad debt that we are still a couple of years away from paying off. I recently dropped around $10000 a year to take on a better…[Read more]
