    I’m glad it’s not just my girls who look all scraggly still and have very pale combs!! No egg’s for several weeks now! I tried making them a warm mash from their chook pellets on a cold day but they didn’t want it!!!

  • try also eating some healthy oily foods like 1/2 avocado and a small tin of tuna each day – that might help with bowel motions

    It’s my chooks that eat their feathers some times – from what I read as long as they aren’t pulling them out it’s ok for them to do that, it’s if they are deliberately pulling them out to eat that it’s a problem, mine don’t do that, it’s only ones that are laying about

    I have Eggs!!! I got my very own egg hunt for Easter! This morning when I let them out only 2 went the normal direction which made me go hunting for the third chook – I found her sitting on the compost heap.     Awwww Vickie 🙁 This weekend I’m heading away and my neighbour came over yesterday as he is going to let my chookies out in the morning and lock them up at night and he is a newbie with chooks (he’s amazed he doesn’t have to round them up at night!! and also relieved!!)

    Nope, I didn’t find any eggs on my backyard hunt – damnit! I’ve got a neighbour letting them out and locking them up over the weekend and was hoping that they would get some eggs for their troubles!! Oh well they can have free pick off the vegie garden instead

    I hope your chookies only got scared by a person and not something else BW!

    More protein = good!!

    Even though only 2 of my girls went broody I haven’t had an egg for a week in the laying box! Hrmm it’s just dawned on me that maybe they are laying elsewhere again…. will investigate this tomorrow afternoon

    so 2 of my chooks went broody and got put into the broody cage but that mean that the 3rd one also stopped laying for some reason – ARGH!! gimme the eggs chooks and stop going broody!!!

    I didn’t stake any of my tomatoes this year and I had quite a lot of cherry toms just grow from last years seeds in the soil (even the ones that the hose went over again and again and again) and they are all still going great guns here in Melbourne – it’s really odd
