I can’t remember the last time I recieved a notification from this group. I am only here because someone mentioned me & this group on Facebook. I don’t recognise this site, as I recall, it was a series of individual groups. I assume that has all changed now? Will I get notifications from now on?Regards, Keith.

I agree with owlbrudder, you won’t get better security than owning land out bush if it all goes pear shaped.

On the question of oil, did any of you know about the oil strike in Coober Pedi ? All the oil we need. Why is it not on main stream media?
Check out this video on one of my blogs. A long one, but well worth watching:

Yes, I can see your point. Certainly farming & transport will have to revert to 18th/19th century methods. More people will have to start growing their own food, & some may have to consider joining some form of farming co-op. I do see the point of no transport for medical help, & obviously we will start to use more natural remedies as modern…[Read more]

Personally I do not see oil or the lack of as a problem. If we run out, it has only help the environment. It will demand huge changes in people’s lives for sure, but we are not talking Apocalypse. I think Global Warming however will cause a lot of problems, & in fact it already is. The majority of people it seems do not yet realise what the…[Read more]

I think there are many scenarios, but I also think that we are in the beginning stages of survival right now, & many people are busy thinking of other things & not seeing what is happening. Because we live in the bush, we see things happening in nature that others may not see. But on top of that, let’s take a look at things on the news.
The Great…[Read more] -

Yes we are set up pretty well here, but there would be changes made if it all hit the fan. Right now I do not want to change anything when there is no need, & the changes will not take long if the time ever comes.

I do not have 100 people, & don’t want 100 people. I have my family & friends, & that is enough. We have two houses in our forest with the ability to construct more. We have two large garden areas. Both houses are self-sufficient & off grid & all services except the phones. We will have no problem being totally self-reliant, & should also be able…[Read more]

I totally agree Rubicon, up to a point. I don’t think of myself as a “Daniel Boone’ type, though I am an 18th century Living Historian & a woodsman, so I guess there is some truth in that. However, many of us are very practicle & good at what we do. I have no illusions as to how hard it will/would be, living where we do, or in another wilderness…[Read more]

For one thing Snags I use a muzzle-loading gun, & that is a lot different to the guns you are talking about. Second you live in a different world, one where nothing violent has happened to you yet. I/we on the other hand have already had to fend off raiders, neighbours & others. If I did not own a gun, I probably would not be here right now. This…[Read more]

Some people Missy are just no good at instructing, especially when they know the skill so well themselves, or think they do. I taught my boys to shoot at a very early age with a flintlock rifle. This rifle was made especially smaller to fit my boys, but even so they needed a forked stick to take the weight when standing. If you have any questions…[Read more]

Getting a firearms license & a gun is a good idea. Unfortunately it takes quite a while to get the gun out of the gun safe when you need it, but at least you have that gun & you can get at it given the time. Think of it as insurance. My wife has a nice 410 single barrel shotgun.
I think survival has started for us. Climate change is having a big…[Read more] -

I must admit that I am not really into technical thinking. People ask me a lot of questions about how to do this & that, especially when it comes to muzzle-loading guns. My main concern is that something works & works well, I am not concerned with ballistics & other technical aspects. As for firewood, we live in a forest, & we use whatever dead…[Read more]

My dream was to live out bush, & I accomplished that. Next I wanted to earn a living as an 18th century living history interpreter, but that never happened. I did get close by starting an 18th century living history group, but unfortunately the majority of members can not/do not actively participate. Right now I would settle for a friend or two…[Read more]
