  • I hop on here about once a month since I returned to my place year ago – rented for 6 or more years and such a mess to return to… Love this community I have been here since early 2006 and the folk here are so helpful and collectively wise…

  • No TV here and kids grew up without TV
They are 22 & 19 now and happy we did it that way – despite some whinging when they were younger.
We played lots of games – cards, board games and made stuff. We had fun and talked a lot. When I go back home to the UK the TVs are on from dawn til bed time sometimes in a few rooms…[Read more]

  • No photos – regret that now. It was such a mess when I moved back here, the ‘before’ photos might motivate me a bit now especially with the house rebuild.. Need to get moving forwards again, get floors done and laundry plumbing in before silly season starts and kids want to come home for holiday

  • Ha ha! Horses and err lantana..

  • So .. I have been away from my property for over 6 years and there is not one skerrick of lemongrass left. Not one bit…

  • So 7 months on and a combo of sheet mulch -the tin roof that got ripped off in April, salvaged black heavy black plastic and the lowest rainfall in yonks seems to have done the trick – have had to pull it out around trees and sheet mulch edges and toss it on the tin or black plastic to fry and dry.
Not sure if it’s all going to pop up again should…[Read more]

  • Thanks for your replies, people. Most welcome.
Too large an area for black plastic πŸ™
Too darned wet here for fire πŸ™
Chook Tractor is a good idea πŸ™‚ There would be some sacrificial chooks though as the pythons are hungry.

  • Yes I was and have done for 6 years and now I am really really back – on this forum and at last at my property and gee is it a mess..

  • Thank you both

Baz – can you use the Silasec on wet/ damp surface or does it have to be dried first?

Off to Sydney for R/R tomorrow πŸ˜†

  • Heard from creative1 !! will keep you posted

Has anyone used Xyprex from the inside? I don’t think this leak is accessible from the outside as it is probably underneath the base – will know more when it’s been cleaned out

LadyB where did you get your Xyprex from? I was phoned by the Brisbane office who are keen to link me up with with…[Read more]

  • I am back after a long while

It is so nice to be back…………………..

  • Thanks both
I am pretty sure this leak is under the base – won’t know for sure until he-who- dares goes in there……….

me thinks it is a big leak too judging by the amount lost and the small amount in the tank – it’s been raining lots here – even for Bellingen

  • Thank you both – waiting on reply from creative1 (the cavalry I hope!)

got a mate to come in a few weekends to get in tank and do a clean out and inspection
so much rain here and none in tank!!

worried that if I use powdered cement it will end up being drunk…

I live in Bellingen – Gordonville actually – on the dorrigo side of Bellingen I have been here 3 years now and I love it and so do my kids who are both in early teens now.

Happy to answer questions and point you in the right direction as I have some local knowledge and can network for you too.

I will be renting my place out ideally…[Read more]

  • I stopped smoking 3-4 days ago. I took my 11 year old son down the Guy Fawkes camping and there is no way I would smoke in a National Park let alone a World Heritage area. So……… why do the hell do I smoke at home and in front of loved ones? That was a no brainer- so I have stopped. Then I came on line here for the first time in weeks and…[Read more]

have spoken to a few old locals around here and am hearing that by giving a mineral supplement on its own, eg sulphur we can cause a inbalance of other essential minerals such as magnesium, calcium or zinc etc which can create metabolic problems -worse than fleas! Sighh! Pat Coleby came in for some tough criticism – sighh!

    Thanks for replies.

Gianna, have no idea what sulphur I use – yellow powder from animal food merchants called “Sulphur”. Does the trick internally and externally on the donkeys, one of whom was in bad shape when I got him

Someone with Pat’s book? – what dose for doggies?

Tully, not rented – time on my hands (to throw more money at the…[Read more]

  • Present
    – sorry I’m late miss
    – dial up wires severed by terrorist rodents………
Is that the same as “the rat ate my homework?”
love it here – best support for what I do and believe.. but I’m so busy out there doing it I don’t get here anything like as much as I want to.
