One of our people at work made one at their day placement,it had a herb in it,cant remember what atm.Problem was other staff over watering it.I would come in and tip out a heap of water.
In the end the herb died so I took the bottle home and planted a spider plant in it,it loves the growing environment and gets my tea dregs.
The only difference…[Read more]
Ravyk,I think pomes are deciduous.
Apparently rats love peanut butter,so if you have some give that a go.
Good luck with your watermelon trial Porgy.
I will decline any seeds as I cannot stand watermelon.
I remember visiting some cousins years ago and they grew all their own F&V,well us kids went nuts and overate to bursting.Unfortunately the watermelon didnt stay put, lets say I’ve never been so sick. That was the last time I willingly ate…[Read more]
I watched it today and have recorded it so I can watch it over again.
Ben Falloon was at the Albury Joel Salatin thingy last August I just never realised who he was.
Maybe I need to get out more!
Well I’ve just noticed my BOB seeds were going mouldy.MAybe I didnt clean them and dry them properly.
So I re-washed and put them in a diluted water/vinegar solution then rinsed and am re-drying.
Hopefully they will be ok as there is a lot of them, and I’d like to use them next time.

ON the Landline story the fruit farmer also said “the fruit will just be left on the ground” so obviously they dont care about fruit hygiene.
I spent many days last year cleaning up fly infested peaches putting them into bags and picking up what the chooks left.We even cut the tree right back so it couldnt produce this year.
Has anyone noticed…[Read more]
Beautiful pics as usual BW thanks for the trip around your garden.
If the white cockies become a problem hang anything blue in the places you dont want them to be eg blue plastic bags or blue shirts etc.Apparently they dont like it.
Mukluk,I think you will find that squab are too heavy to fly any great distance to forage.
Due to their size this limits their ability to fly anywhere.
A neighbour of ours down the back lane was a pigeon racer and turned to raising squab. He had access to a facility where he could cull and dress the birds for sale.He had this business for a long…[Read more]
Wow,I’ve just re-read your thread .
Very very intense.
Had a chuckle at the tractor.
THings seem to be coming together, albiet slowly.
Think how much you both will appreciate your place after the fight you’ve put up to get it.
Look forward to your next installment.
I still have pumpkins on the vines, some started late also.
I picked the ones with dead vines yesterday and the others whose vines are still fairly plump and green I left.
We have had 2 very mild frosts already this week, but I plan to leave the others on the vines till they die off.
So theres plenty of us in the same boat with our pumpkins.
Thanks for the idea BW,I was also wondering what to do with my BOB.
I have 2 worm beds and plenty of hungry chooks who will do it justice.
BL good looking BOB.
I agree with calliecat, you need a quilting ruler as they are a thicker ruler, plus the ruler will need to be long enough to hold the material down.
Rotary cutters can and do jump the ruler so take it slow and easy, when you have finished cutting and before you put the cutter down, retract the blade.this helps keep fingers safe.
Also if you have any…[Read more]
My BOB is sitting on a table under a tree ATM.
I’ll cut him open on the weekend and save his seeds also.
Looking forward to doing this again,it’s been fun.
So Bel if enough of us keep seed then we can pass them on also to other( unaware persons) oh I mean other interested people.
Ha Ha Ha
Ha HA love a good chuckle.
Oh BW hurry and rescue the old fridge and give it another life.
Up in the orchard I spread out some horse poo and put straw on top,let it sit then decided that was where my peas were going.I had to erect the growing frame myself,so it’s not that great but it wont fall over as DH came and bashed the poles in a bit more.
I have also planted some garlic the other side of the peas, yeah they dont mix but I’ve…[Read more]
