  • okay! HELP! I can’t figure out how upload pics! I thought I could just use the attachment link down the bottom of the new post page, but alas, it didn’t work… and the photobucket way is just too much for my baby addled brain to remember…

I looked in the FAQs and couldn’t find anything, can anyone point me in the right…[Read more]

  • Okay… picture time!

I haven’t uploaded a pic onto this site for 2 years or more, so lets see if I can remember how to do it!

The first is of the whole block before taking it out of the plastic wrap that I lined the pyrex dish with…

the second is it cut into bars and arranged on a plate as prettily as I am capeable of! 😉

  • …. AND IT WORKED! WOO HOO! :rol:

I got home from work today and inspected it and it was a solid mass of creaminess!

Now that I’ve given it a go, hubby might let me justify spending some money on pretty molds… I just used a…[Read more]

thanks everyone for your input, it’s really helpful!

(Sorry for the slow reply, for some reason I’m not being emailed when there is a reply – mustn’t have ticked the box :|)

I went the grain store and found that they have other brands of chook feed… so we’re trying Red Hen, it’s a mix of grains and some pellets… hopefully they’ll love that,…[Read more]

  • thanks! I’ll go and get some rooting hormone to hopefully beat the odds!

  • This thread is hilarious – 😆 thanks everyone!

We thought our chooks were like old ladies, so we named them after our 4 deceased grandmothers – Lil, Rita, Ellen and Clarice – we thought it only appropriate!… if only we could tell them apart! (we’re getting there tho)

  • My chooks have been helping themselves to my baby raspberry plants! :mad:I will be lucky to have anything left!

Didn’t know that about them only fruiting on second year wood… so I won’t expect any fruit this summer… 😐

The reason for not using a boar is because they have too much testosterone – which gives the meat a funny smell, which is called “boar taint”.

Asians, who know their pork, can smell the boar taint and will only eat female pork, or males under 40kgs (pre-pubescent boars). To the untrained nose it probably doesn’t smell at all, but I definitely…[Read more]

  • thanks Paulaorganic – I have seen that site before – very impressive!

I have plans of doing other trees on an espalier, but they will have to wait until after we’ve renovated (a couple of years down the track) as we need access where we plan to build the espaliering frame… but I can’t wait that long for cherries!

And I thought putting in a…[Read more]

  • thank you so much! that is really helpful:tup:… Now I just have to convince hubby to let me get my cherry tree!

Cherries are the only fruit I think are a more wicked treat than chocolate!

I will try to remember to let you know how I go… it’s a long term project, no doubt.

BTW still happy to hear of anyone’s fan-training experiences.…[Read more]

    thanks for your feeback guys!

Scarecrow, for some reason my internet explorer doesn’t like your blogspot! It opened it up for long enough for me to read a few sentences and then “operation aborted” and it shut the page down :rip: – any chance I could trouble you to cut and paste the recipe for your mash onto this thread? Sorry to be a pain……[Read more]

  • cool, thanks!:D

  • Hi Forest – thanks for providing that plan for Josh’s chook pen – I think it’s brilliant!

I remember reading something about it a while back – do you know where I can find a picture of it? I want to show hubby and talk him into it!

(Still renting but recently did a tree change to the country!):D

And does anyone know how many chooks it…[Read more]

  • Thanks Rhonda and Wendy,

Wendy, You’re not the first person to suggest that spud looks like a teddy bear, someone suggested I sell it on e-bay! 😆

  • well for all my thinking that our spuds were going great guns… we decided to harvest a couple of weeks ago when things started to look NQR.

This was our bumper crop – the orange colander contains the pink eyes and the blue 4″ pot contains the Kipflers.

They are the same size they were when I planted them! 🙁

Only difference is that there is…[Read more]

  • Hey all, hubby and I nibbled on our first raspberries last night! MMMmmmmm I figured we may as well eat them instead of letting the birds get to them!

So glad I bought the canes! they were the BEST!

And new canes (or do I call them suckers?) are popping up beside the ones I bought, so next year we’ll probably get enough to make muffins or…[Read more]

    thanks guys… aren’t I a silly sausage!? (don’t answer that!)

  • I don’t know what i’m doing wrong! I just got rid of all spaces in my photo names… submitted them to my album (Kalex’s) and it thanked me for submitting them and asked if I wanted to submit another… and i did… until I had no more to go on… and lovingly wrote a little blurb about each picture… and then I went to check out my album and…[Read more]

  • Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay in posting the photos – I went away last weekend and was in a mad flap getting ready for that! Now i’m having technical issues uploading the piccies! The site won’t let me submit them… i’ve resized them finally, to about 100kb each, but it seems I’ve done my dash 🙁

any administrators out there that can help me?
