Thanks for this. It really is a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute I am fine, the next so sad and the next in the depths of despair. I’m sure you know exactly what I mean.

Isnt it funny how things change so quickly. 3 years ago I replied to this topic as an outsider but then 2 years ago my partner was diagnosed with Alzheimers too. His decline has been fairly rapid and he is now only 63. He can no longer shower himself, is sometimes incontinent and can do very little for himself. Luckily he has never been…[Read more]

This is the very first meeting so there is a long way to go. We havent even got a committee or anything as yet. Hopefully the first event will attract some people who might be interested in putting something into place.

I love the Thai Basil Chicken from my new recipe book “For Foods Sake”, also the salted, macadamia brownies. The Lemon Meringue from the EDC is pretty good too.
Mostly I use it for basics – yoghurt, bread, peanut butter, juice, pasta sauces.

I would try the Tripod series by Christopher, some of John Wyndhams might be ok and some of Ursula Le Guin if he is into Sci Fi. If you are borrowing from the library they are worth a try as if he doesnt like them you havent lost anything. I read all of the above in primary school and loved them.

I bought a secondhand electric bike for $400 a couple of years ago, I did have to get it serviced and a couple of new tyres. It suits me as I am not a great rider. Im hoping now I am riding regularly that I will be able to convert to a non electric one. Mine is extremely heavy and would be a nightmare to try and ride without using the power to…[Read more]

I have had my thermo for about a year now. I keep it on the bench all the time and gave away all the other gadgets to my son who was setting up house. I use it to cook a couple of times a week but the reason I love it is that I make a lot of my basics without any additives. I make my own bread, yoghurt, butter, peanut butter, juices etc and…[Read more]

I can now get most of what I need from the local Farmers Market including: fruit, veg, bread, milk, cheese, meat, dog food, breakfast foods, jams, pickles etc.
Anything I cant get from there I buy from either the local fruit and vege store (which has lots of things organic) or the local IGA. I have also bought from the online store which stocks…[Read more] - Load More
