My Dad has two alpaca’s specifically for fox and wild dog issues. They can’t stand his two house dogs or the kelpie work dog, but if Dad is around they won’t charge at the kelpie when she is rounding up the flock.
He seems happy with them.

This is an American site, but it is absolutely brilliant!

The interesting thing is much of her recipes are gluten free. And her use of mixes not found in Australia do make it a little frustrating, but there are some gems in amongst all that…

I’m sorry I haven’t been able to help with the recipe. My friend who has the recipe is trying to cope with 3 sick children under the age of 6 and I’m loath to put pressure on her for the recipe. SHe knows I want the recipe, but yeah…I’m not going to aggravate her any more than she already is…

I’ve had mine for 3 years now and not one has blown, Mind you I got mine from Woollies and bought the phillips brand.
What I did was bought the strongest/brightest globe I could get for the lounge room (equivalent to 125 watts) and the rest of the house has globes varying in equivalency to 25 watts (Laundry/toilet/bathroom), 40 watts (dining…[Read more]

I made a gingerbread house at church on Friday night…The humidity here was close to 100% with a fog with 10-50m visibility and rain….
It’s still standing Today (Sunday) although it is starting to get a wee bit soft on the outside. Mind you the board the house is on is balanced on two desert bowls turned upside down in a baking tray of water!…[Read more]

Well I dunno for me, something is working now. I can login without repeated attempts and just now I closed the tab down by mistake, opened it right back up and I was still logged in.
Here’s hoping it stays that way…

ditto…I use google chrome and the only way I can log in is to open a thread and hit the reply button and log in there…cannot do it all on the recent threads screen at all, keeps telling me I have an invalid token and if I hit the back button it brings me back to the recent threads page and I’m still not logged in…
Hope you and Dan get it…[Read more]

I also stockpile for all the reasons mentioned in posts above. I probably have close to 3-4 months of stockpile, and it is not just food items, but non-food items as well.
I live on a pension and rent, so I stockpile to smooth out the ups and downs of living on limited money. I also firmly believe that peak oil is an issue, but I still haven’t…[Read more]

I only drink UHT milk, Devondale brand or dried milk (Home brand). I don’t go through enough to justify fresh milk and I often don’t have the finances to buy fresh milk all the time.
So I buy dried and UHT milk in bulk. I currently have 80 litres of UHT milk from the last time it was on special, the earliest use-by date is March and the lastest…[Read more]

I currently do not distinguish between long and short-term food storage. What I do is every 6 months is I rotate a box which has the following in it:
4 packs of corn and rice thins,
2 packs of museli bars
4 packs of 6 poppa’sThese are foods which I eat, but do not eat all the time, so they stay seperate from the rest of my food. This box,…[Read more]

I would say it is both, but the freshness is important.
see this link – the important bits are at the bottom of the page – http://whatscookingamerica.net/Bread/FlourTypes.htm
Also you have no way of knowing what temperature the bag of flour has been stored at, I’ve heard that optimum temperature for storage is about 75F (23C) and for every…[Read more]

if you hit reply, instead of quick reply, you’ll have a section on your screen called boardcode. You’ll have a row of images and a row of smilies. If you click on the 3rd small image from the right, you’ll get a new screen below your message which is a live preview screen.

It took me most of this morning to try and login. Something to do with too many redirects, so I cleared my cache and cookies out (shame I couldn’t have eaten the cookies 😛 ) and went to Spotlight to check out the specials.
Came home and logged on and bingo! up comes the new site looking nice and spic and span!!!

This site works OK on Google Chrome as well, can get slow in waiting to load a new page (eg moving from page 7 to page 8 of this thread) within threads but it doesn’t happen always. Didn’t think until I read Judi’s comment that it might be feedback you can use lol…
