I have had exactly the same problem with farmstock. No registration email and no response when I have emailed them. It’s a shame because they have a good goat section and I have some for sale.

Has anyone used old carpet as a soil/gravel separator and wicking layer? Plenty of used carpet at carpet stores if you ask them to save it for you.

Thanks Dayla. Now that makes a lot of sense! Thanks! As for the compaction I think it is because the composted screened cow manure is too fine. It needs larger chunks of organic matter to open up the soil.

I would be happy to post you some of my goat milk soap to try for free. I have many customers who buy it in bulk because it is the only soap they can use due to skin conditions. Unlike mass produced soap I make it from raw milk fresh from my own milking goats that are raised naturally. PM me if you would like to try it and i will put a bar in the…[Read more]

Hi Fishfood,
I was inspired by your work on Wicking IBC Garden beds.
I have made a few IBC wicking beds – 7 of them are still to be filled with media – but one test bed has been up and running for a couple of months with a crop of corn in it.
I cut the top off the IBC leaving them about 65cm tall (from memory – im not at home right now to mea…[Read more]

The other thing to do is to pour any of the liquid from the collection jar at the bottom of the biopod over the vege scraps. The smell the bsf larvae give off in this liquid will attract bsf.

Lots of rotting vege scraps is what you need to attract them to the biopod.

Here is another use for carp – throw them on the BBQ for a couple of minutes on each side wrapped in foil and once cooked throw the whole thing in the chook house. Alternativly boil them in a pot of water for a couple of minutes. No need to gut or clean them – cook them whole. The chooks go crazy for them and its a great source of free protein for them.

I would be interested to know more about your setup – costs, fuel use qty, how much power you generate, feed batteries – or direct grid connect?

replied to the topic What's been your success rate with electronic rat zappers, eg Derwent brand? in the forum Pets and Native Animals 9 years, 4 months ago
I purchased a rat zapper on ebay and it was stopped by customs on its way into Australia and handed over to the RSPCA who confiscated it and destroyed it. Aparently they are inhumane. If I was a rat and had to choose between having my head squashed and dieing slowly in a trap that can be purchased at any hardware store or supermarket for a few…[Read more]

I think I have the humanure handbook as a PDF somewhere if you cant find it online and want it emailed to you. They made the last edition of the book available for a while online as a download before the new edition came out.
