we don’t have a tv. We have a computer so we can either download movies or watch catch up tv online. If dh gets desperate in formula one season, he rigs up the aerial (complete with wire coat hanger outside) and hooks up the computer screen. We haven’t had one for years.

I am sorry, it is so hard with animals sometimes! I lost both of my beautiful dogs last year, both to cancers.
Would it be worth getting an xray to check for lumps in the lungs or abdomen? I only say that because my little dog had no lumps that I could feel, but on xray she had lumps all through her abdomen. (an aggressive fast cancer) I took…[Read more]

I could walk away from my house, but not my property. More so because I love the area we live in, the climate and my neighbours. We aren’t very materialistic and I have very few sentimental things. I have tried to work out what sentimental things to take in a bushfire situation and there just isn’t really anything important enough. So safety stuff…[Read more]

I found this in the NSW gov homeschooling section
“Registration for part-time home schooling
Part-time home schooling is not possible for children registered for Kindergarten to Year 10.
All children of compulsory school age must be enrolled in a school (government or nongovernment) or registered for home schooling on a full-time basis.…[Read more] -
replied to the topic Mulch compatable with chickens? in the forum All things Chicken 8 years, 3 months ago
with the mulch, if its made up of woodchips and leaf litter, then it can harbour a lot of molds and spores that can cause respiratory issues with chooks. It looks good, but as they dig they breathe in the spores…. if you are set on it, I would use the playground bark chips. You could also use sawdust or fresh straw. All the best with it!

I love mine. In my original kitchen I measured out the amount of water in my sink. My sink was only little and it used 14L of water for 1 load of dishes. We do a lot of cooking and we would use 2-4 sinks of water to wash our dishes in a day (depending on visitors) we then renovated our kitchen and ended up with a much larger sink. Our dishwasher…[Read more]

thats pretty cool, thanks for posting that! Good timing, last week I sectioned off part of my chook yard and planted lucerne, bush peas, carrots (to break up the soil) and climbing beans and I was going to plant a climber up the fence. The chook yard also doubles as the stone fruit orchard. I might also plant some silverbeet in there too. Once its…[Read more]

replied to the topic what to plant where pine trees were in the forum Fruit, Vines, Nuts and Sprouts 8 years, 5 months ago
raspberries like pine needles as a mulch apparently. With the soil add lots and lots of organic matter and build up the nutrients and see how you go. You can test the soil ph if you want an idea of what its like. have fun!

Nice property!
The pros for me is the property!
For me the cons are the heat (very hot and dry in summer), less rainfall, distance to Adelaide (if needing to commute)thinking of the freeway in winter…. but that is all personal choice! I have no idea what you do and don’t like. I like Callington, I think its a beautiful little place. I have no…[Read more]

ahhhhh the thermomix….. *sigh*
I still have no idea.
I am a slow foody and I love cooking. Initially I was very hesitant about the thermomix because it goes against all my basic principles. I went to a demo (loved the food) but wasn’t sold on it. My life pretty much revolves around food and I wanted to pass on skills of cooking from scratch…[Read more]
