The plants are thriving, but I have no idea what’s going on beneath the surface as I haven’t tried to bandicoot. I’ve removed about three stems, but we still have plenty of new ones growing through the soil. I planted them about two months ago and apart from a few pieces of white straw (small pieces) you wouldn’t know there are/were any issues at…[Read more]

Only just checked back, sorry. I’ve only removed the affected parts, and the plants are still doing REALLY well. There’s just the odd white piece of straw in the bed now. Do I really have to sacrifice all of the plants? :uhoh:

Can I just get some clarification…. do I only need to remove the parts infected (which are spreading daily anyway) or the entire plant that is affected? I would think that black plastic on the soil now will make the situation worse  The rain seems to have stopped at last, so I expect it to become hot and dry again soon.

S’ok Lyn. We only planted it about two months ago as it had azaleas when we moved in back last August. I’ll have to look up susceptible crops of course, but I’m not too stressed at the mo 🙂 Thanks for the tips.

  • Ppl should probably bear in mind that most patterns available (even on blogs) have copyright protection and cannot be reproduced for commercial purposes. It wouldn’t be terribly hard to get caught out either given this is all out there in the cyber world now.

It wasn’t that thread that I was referring to, rather one questioning the whereabouts of a great number of old timers.

I’m not going off the subject, I’m not even here. I’m a mirage 🙂

  • I wondered where that thread went. Fkn ridiculous!

Forgot to mention Luvin, this was with 12-ply version of Bendigo Woollen Mills’ ‘Classic’ 100% wool. There was about 1.5 hours of knitting in it! I’ve never knitted lace with 12 ply before so this was a refreshing change that knitted up SOOO quickly. I’ll be making more as gifts for my nieces I think – they were so quick and easy 🙂 Thoroughly…[Read more]

What on Earth does the cat do to your knitting??? 😆

Thanks luvin 🙂 Rest assured, I will do VERY little between March and October 🙁 It pains me, that’s why I’m hoping to get it all out of my system now.

I also made a tea towel and double-sided oven mitt yesterday, they’re gifts for DH’s Nan. It’s hard to buy for someone of such age who has…[Read more]

Yesterday Miss 8 came home with a note that gave two days notice that the class wants a $5 secret santa gift from each child  Good of them, I thought. So I found a nice pattern on Ravelry, and I’m knitting this little lace bag, and I’ve bought a small diary to go in to it. I have to provide a girl’s present.

    One hour’s progress:

    It’s…[Read more]

  • I could happily count humbugs, but they wouldn’t last long around here, yum yum 🙂

I’ve only encountered the staggering over-use of the true humbug in Australia. I spent my first couple of years here thinking “you don’t give a sh!t, so why are you asking?” They don’t listen to your answer half of the time, a stance that ShellBelle probably has a…[Read more]

    Thanks again Luvin

I have started my blockout bedroom curtains today. The two windows are almost identical in size to the lounge curtains, and I have made just one of the large curtains so far. Saying that, I’m doing double pinch pleat for the first time, and that involves nowhere near the width of fabric that pencil pleat requires. So I’m…[Read more]

I’m close to finishing my two letters I think. I wanted to report back that I did the pva varnish and it has worked really well. I mixed it with water, around 50/50 and it looked terrible when it went on! The paper looked soaked and I thought the colour would all be washed out of it, but it dried to look as it had to start with, except for the…[Read more]

Kathy, perhaps you should start thinking now about how *you* are going to gauge if the connection between them is “true” enough for your liking 😮

  • There’s a big assumption that sex is involved here. And being allowed to stay at your house is one thing, but having sex while others are in the house is quite another. Perhaps there is some jumping to conclusions  Perhaps not.

As others have said though, if there’s a sexual relationship going on, then you’re not going to stop it by not…[Read more]

  • I’m paying for it over three months. Three fixed figures. Thought I’d challenge myself to save up enough in between each so that it doesn’t come out of our savings. I’m failing

    Thank you both :shy:

Don’t know what’s been wrong luvin, but my friend said she’s been the same all week. She lives in Brisbane but she visited last Sunday. The nausea finally left on Friday but I’m still really tired. That’s my night owl/early bird lifestyle catching up though, with the added dimension of earlier sun rising 🙁

    As for the dress…[Read more]

  • I was glad when I stopped getting Spotlight mail in the mail. I went in so often that it was a MASSIVE waste of paper. I would rather look at their website since I don’t come close to my tariff downloads limit, and therefore consider it free viewing. I’d rather get e-mail catalogues; at least I can just delete the unread mails if they get too much.
