replied to the topic Could you live without television? in the forum Life Changes 5 years, 11 months ago
I haven’t had a TV since decades. When I was around 17 I turned off the sound just for fun and watched. Even at that age I realised the manipulation that was going on, and decided I did not want that. There were better things to do 😉 We had occassionally an old TV that friends gave us because they were sorry for us. But we threw it out after a…[Read more]

Thanks, that was very helpful. There is such a shelter not too far from here, and I will get in contact with them tomorrow.
Cheers

Yes you are right, we live near Sydney and would deliver guinea pigs and cage if it is up to a few hours drive.

Now they deleted my posting, too.

Moderators would you please delete my ID and all my postings from this forum.

I think Biochar could permanently remove large amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere. Youtube shows some very clever methods to make and use biochar.
Once that knowledge becomes widespread and growers see how it increases the fertility of their soil I guess we will see biochar used all over the place. And it is almost pure carbon, and it stays in…[Read more]

replied to the topic who to believe – global warming in the forum Global warming and climate change 7 years, 11 months ago
It seems the best days of the climate movement are over. Below I have linked two articles (translated by Google) in two of the largest German newspapers about home insulation and climate change both saying that a lot of damage and cost has been caused by the laws that force home owners to insulate their homes with foam to “save the climate”.
And…[Read more]

That’s interesting what Prof Francis “knows”:
“Last March at this time we were experiencing extremely warm conditions,” “…but this year it’s just the other way around.”
Ms Francis said the changes could not be explained by natural fluctuations in the earth’s environment.”Isn’t it just what natural fluctuations are all about? How come she…[Read more]

Thanks, very interesting. I have been in Europe for a long time last year, and also followed what happened there the years ago, and it seems it got cooler, and the last five winters were real winters, with lots of snow like now where much of Central Europe came to a standstill during the last days.
If I understand the linked article correctly…[Read more]

Amazing! I mean amazing to hear there are other people with similar ideas to mine. 🙂
Did you ever hear about the diesel tree? I think there are some in Australia.
I have no experience with that diesel area, as mentioned before I was occupied with heating with biomass (and my family was very happy to have warm showers for eight months in the…[Read more]

replied to the topic Hydronic Heating in the forum Sustainable Energy & Energy Conservation 8 years ago
Hi,
I grew up in Germany where almost all houses have hydronic heating. It is definitely nothing for DIY.
The most important thing is the danger of steam explosions. Occassionally people connect something to their woodstove, and if pressure builds up because the are no safety valves even the explosion of a small system will flatten a house. Do…[Read more]

Sounds very interesting for me to hear .. that there is demand for heating in Australia 😆
I have been working on low tech solar or biomass heating for years now, though not full time, however, whenever approached people in Australia I heard: No, don’t need that – we have lots of firewood – electricity is sooo cheap.
Basically: In the city…[Read more]
