I would like to know more about tidal technology.
That should be a consistent form of energy.
I understand there is some development going on here in WA but there does not seem to be much info!
I believe that when there is a major meltdown the damage is horrendous and it is not a risk I want to take.
Sounds like infectious sinunitis to me. (spelling)
I had this go through my yard many years ago, lived away from others so don’t know where it came from but I lost hens turkeys and peacocks before we found what it was.
Needed antibiotics to clean it up
I think they do better with a reasonable amount of water.
I know around old farms the fig tree was often put where the wash water went,
not just the fig tree either!
Yes took a couple of years for her to breed again.
Would there be the same kind of emissions from wind farms?
I wonder, also what kind of emissions are around nuclear plants?
Years ago I was given a thorough bred mare.
She had one foal who was a winner and the owner wished to breed more.
The mare would go into foal but not hold.
I brought her down to my farm where she ran with my stallion and eventually did foal
Took a while for her to go into foal.
Further investigation about her history revealed she was kept on a…[Read more]
Just love the side kick!!!!
What breed is he?
I know how you feel, these little guys really wrap themselves around our hearts!
Years ago we had a small female terrier, she developed a number of lumps on her belly.
These worried me more than her I think.
Husband was a farmer who didn’t believe we should fuss over the fur kids!!
I wasn’t too happy nor were the children, anyway she ripped these…[Read more]

Penny I am down south now but my reaction to that idiotic person letting those kids off was that it should be thier home and personal safety on the line and see what the reaction was then.
While we were on the farm we milked our own cow so my kids only ever had unprocessed milk.
moving closer to the city changed things
We were getting raw milk from the nearby dairy for pet lambs.
While we were using this my grand daughter was fine.
When we went back to processed milk she had problems with lactose.
Isn’t it lovely to look out over your own paddocks and dream?
Good luck with the dam, that I think should be a priority unless you have other sources.
look forward to seeing more of your place as time goes by!
Don’t critize farmers with your mouth full!

Calliecat I think that way too.
When you have animals in feed lot situations then you get diseases
These need to be controlled.
The answer? grow as much as you possibly can.
hard if you live in small suburban area or maybe a flat.
Other than that make so much noise that eventually people start to listen, maybe!!
Any one else got any ideas?
I too was wondering about solar panels/wind turbines with battery backup for all new buildings.
I would think the power company could supply them and maintain them, then charge a rental based on capacity, for it all because it isn’t cheap.
the company would need to make a profit but the householder wouldn’t have to find the cash to install…[Read more]
I think it chose me!!!!
Just felt like home when I walked in.
The house is my kind of house, roomy but not too over the top.
The land had no fences and needed attention but the sheds were good.
Further out from the town than I was looking for but I feel totally at home here.
Don’t plan on going anywhere else soon!!!!
I had a large chook pen aprox 1 acre.
I used to open the gate in the morning and the geese then went down to a nearby dam for the day returning to the run at night.
because they had enough room to get away from each other i didn’t have a problem .
I realise not every one can do that so I can only suggest that if possible you have them next to each…[Read more]
I did say goats are not silly!!!
I think you need a proper fence unit
I had a wire near the the ground one in the middle and a top one. that seemed to work.
My experience with goats is you do need electric fences!!!
I think they are the most intellengent, cheeky, frustrating , lovable animals.
Any one who calls you a silly goat doesn’t know what they are talking about!
If you manage to find one like Chris don’t let him go!!!
He says he like a challenge, I think I have given him some.
Contractors like this are rare I believe.
The fencing is finished and the shelters for the stallion are built.
i have had a contractor level and resow the final piece of land, that is coming on nicely too.
I must say the fencing contractor must be the best there is!!
not only did he do the fencing he built the shelters, comes if I need help with the fence. storm last week saw…[Read more]
