I have an electric one and it is brilliant, but have only used it a few times, it makes the lights flicker, so must be pulling a lot of juice. Would love a stove top one.

I’m very sorry for your loss Len and I do understand how you feel.
The vet we chose, said she would look after our suspected snake bite staffy overnight and call in the morning to say how he was doing. She called at 6am saying he was really bad and would not make it. I decided to do the kind thing and told her to put him to sleep and said we…[Read more]

I think the focus doesn’t go to PO boxes anymore. There was a notice at some stage. You can pick them up in the stores though.

I am surprised you can make them for that price. Also I never realised they were that large, I just thought they were about hanky size.
Great idea though, good luck.

We have an everhot sitting outside that is beyond repair, but does have some good parts still. I am not sure of the model. I am also not sure what a shaker grate is?
Wait Hubby says it’s a foot pedal thing for the fire box?
Not sure if the water jacket on ours is ok, can have a look, if you are interested. -

It doesn’t “seem” like ages Judi, it has been ages. Happy happy! Fingers crossed, may the weather be on your side for a while.

It doesn’t sound like you are having a lot of fun. Life should always be fun. Life is also messy.
As others have said, stay on top of things that need dealing with, don’t let them build up. Curious, were you making soap on your porch or were you carrying lye around? I’m sure the splash mark will sand out, no biggy. You could try boiling your…[Read more]

If I plant any food gardens, I am feeding possums. It is a constant fight, that I seem to mostly lose. I also find that “someone” helps themselves to any fruit scraps left in the chook pen, there are discarded bits outside in the morning.

Mauzi, they are gorgeous. How do they hold up in the heat? I find most candles melt here in summer.

Cut them into strips and then using cotton (maybe crochet cotton?) or I like to use the string off feed bags.. knit them up into dish scrubbies. The last one I made lasted over a year.. must make another one soon.

I agree about their personalities. The adults I have are semi tame and come when I call “babies” One of my males will sit on my arm and eat out of my hand. His name is “who’s up” since when they were all young I would always ask who’s up? and he was the only one that would do it.

I ended up rounding her and them up this morning, which was quite a job. She hatched over 20 babies ( can’t count exactly, they are too quick already ) Have penned them up, which I am rather sad about, but I can’t have that many terrorizing the neighbours. Will be looking to move some on when they are big enough.

Vickie, I am 35 and I guess I wasn’t vaccinated as a child to get it in my 20’s

I got whooping cough in my twenties, it was horrid and scary. The neighbour thought I had severe asthma.
It is of course totally up to you whether to get the vaccine and I am mostly against them, but if your immune system is already strong, a vaccine should not cause any/many side affects.

replied to the topic How do you remove Vacola Snap On lids? in the forum General chat and catching up 8 years, 10 months ago
Pull, maybe carefully put a butter knife under the edge and prise. Do you have the tool for getting the regular vacola tops off? Maybe that would help. I always have to get hubby to get them off for me and even he has trouble.
