replied to the topic How to train dogs not to kill stock/poultry in the forum Backyard livestock 6 years, 11 months ago
When my dogs were puppies I taught them verbally. Anything they couldn’t have they were told ‘ahh (like a no sound) leave it, it’s mine. My oldest girl met her first chook when she was about 8 months old, she was very curious, but because she already knew the command she was fine with them and has been fine with any animal she has met, unless the…[Read more]

My nubians were not naughty at all and never got out. My milker was a toggy/boar cross and she was quite the b*tch, hated men and would laugh at any fence.

What type of land are you planning on having them on? Goats like a fairly varied diet and usually will not eat too much of anything to make themselves sick unless there is nothing else to eat.
Here is a list of plants http://fiascofarm.com/goats/poisonousplants.htm I couldn’t see fresh lucerne on the list, but it does give an idea of how…[Read more]

As far as I can tell, it looks the same as mine. I believe I used mine once or twice on the gas stove before I got wood.

I agree with Bobbee, I am guessing it is probably aluminium though. A big round plate with holes in it that has a hinge bit at one side? You put sealed jars in it, so I never worried about the aluminium. I can take a picture if you want to be sure yours is the same. I will check back in tomorrow.

We have them here too, but I don’t think they are vinegar flies. Just itty bitty moth things. They are so thick in the house of a night. They are still in the kitchen of a morning too and I have to work in the almost dark in the wee hours with the windows open, hoping they will bugger off for the day.

To me it is not about food at all, it is about buying with a conscience. To the best of your ability.

Do you have any other jars to compare them to? I think they might be 4 1/2″ lids. You may be able to measure them across.
Mitre 10 stocks the 4 1/2″ lids now.

As a cleanse, it sounds good. It would be no good for weight loss, would just mess up your metabolism.

Ty Mrs Potato Head, I have a few tomatoes that look like that that I have just been removing. At least I know the problem now. Most are fine though, so maybe there was a short period where they lacked water.

3 months ago would have put them near the end of winter and they were pulled out into the real world. With the funny weather patterns of recent, my girls have been all over the place with their laying. ( they don’t know what season it is) I would give them some time. I have had rescue hens and they took a bit to get on their feet before they…[Read more]

Hi Len, with the adaware, can you just hit control, alt, delete and find it in the processes and kill it, it will give you a warning, i can’t remember what ( i don’t use windows anymore ) but just ignore it and kill the process, you should then be able to uninstall it.

Do you know the price of it? Couldn’t find that on the site.
A friend has one, not this particular brand, but it works the same, except they have to hand crank it from outside every few days, it doesn’t self crank like this one seems to. As far as I know they have had no problems with it. -
replied to the topic Rats in the shed in the forum Backyard livestock 8 years, 4 months ago
I’ve tried the catch and release traps… they work great, the mice/rats get caught, eat all the food and then release themselves. I haven’t liked the idea of poison baits, but I am getting desperate, found a homemade recipe today that I am trying out. Flour, sugar and bicarb. Non toxic on any animal that can burp or fart.
