I remember this topic being covered a while (12/18 months) ago. A search may help if its still in the system. HTH.:)

I googled sawtooth herb and it looks like one I bought at a local market in Vic. They labelled it as chinese coriander. Maybe someone could verify whether they are the same herb? May help if someone else has it labelled as such.

Humbugs suggestion is great. The other alternative is to put a pump in the pond so the water is constantly moving. Mozzies tend to like still water rather than flowing water.
Hope this helps.:)October 14, 2010 at 7:48 am #479923

I have a few plants in pots with 50% potting mix and 50% compost and they’re going great. Are they just drying out (lack of water) or is something else happening to them?September 29, 2010 at 11:39 am #473386

Good guess – I thought it could be used as a tea infuser too??? Hope it comes in handy.
As a special prize for guessing correctly, and given you were moving to a solar powered house, I could send you a small solar panel that I have – was supposed to connect to a water pump, but we don’t have the water pump at work – if you like. Please let me know if you would like it, other wise I’m sure another als member might make use of it. Better pm me your new address if you have already moved as well.

Got mine from the post office yesterday. A book on basic carpentry – perfect for the next project which is aset of bookshelves – and a book called Going Native which looks like a brilliant read – I’ll start this as soon as I finish my current book “The World according to Monsanto :@”
At a guess my Buddy was redhen2 – but whoever sent me my present, thankyou, I’m very happy!

thisildo was right. I found a site that said that bracken indicates a nitrogen deficient soil (maybe someone else can verify whether this is correct or not?) and maybe rich in potassium. I wouldn’t get rid of it unless it was causing a problem but if something else was going to be planted in the same spot then the nitrogen deficiency in the soil could be an issue.
Hope this helps 😀

If these replica predators work at all they need to be moved around or the butcher birds will see it as more of a statue than a predator.August 25, 2010 at 12:11 pm #473275

I’d love to join in. I read a lot and would love books on cooking, gardening, food preserving, sustainable living.
Any old tools will always be put to good use.
I have two dogs (small terriers) as well.
Well done, Lady B!!! 😀
