OK. I’ll have to dig up a machine with safari on it and give it a go.

OK… a little better.
When you select a file to attach, the file attachment box stays blank but the file does actually upload and attach.
So file attachments are working again. Sort of.
I’ll try to work out why the box is staying blank but in the mean time just select the file and even though it looks like it won’t, it will upload.
Ahh……[Read more]

Hi guys
Yep. Its a problem. At the moment neither Dan or I are in a position to log in to the server and check what’s going on.UUnfortunately our day jobs are getting in the way. I can’t even see the site from work and have to do what I can on my phone (excuse the poor typing – small keypad, big fingers).
I have set aside some time this weekend…[Read more]

Immunisation us the single greatest breakthrough in health in the whole of human history. I do not say this lightly. Millions of people have been saved by immunisation.
The anti vac lobby are dangerous quacks peddling pseudo scientific gobbldygook designed to trick the gullible and foolish. They should be locked up as a menace to society

This is a very difficult topic. There are no easy answers.
On the plus side, a properly managed wood heater is carbon neutral (though many aren’t as they use wood that isn’t then replanted).
On the minus side they are very polluting. And no, the reference to more particulates than a car isn’t exaggerated. Some reverences to wood heater…[Read more]

Ok Ok.. guys… guys… guys…
Ourselves. In our communities.
Yes plenty the government could do better. Not what this thread is about. Plenty big companies could do better. Also not what this thread is about.
Ourselves. In our communities.
Plenty we can do to help ourselves and not just grumble about taxes.
One thing this does highlight is…[Read more]

One thing to consider that even the best wood burner, standards approved, running properly and at peak efficiency puts out more fine particulates in a day than a car puts out in a year.
Something to consider for the asthmatics out there…

I read somewhere that on a domestic scale you can feed a family of 4 all the fruit and veg they can eat using 24 square meters if you are really efficient with your planting.
On a commercial scale its less than that because you gets some efficiencies of scale. I think the figure was 18 or 20 square meters.
My vege garden is about 18 square…[Read more]

Depends… if the motor or compressor is gone but still sealed there could be gas. If its an older fridge (> 15 years) it could be the really nasty CFC ozone destroying gas.
Either way, some of those gasses arent’ very good for you so do it outside in a well ventilated area. You could even see whether a local fridge repair guy could come and…[Read more]

In what way does a decent defence budget make the world a better place? Except for American defence contractors of course.

Come on guys… I know there are a lot of big issues and yes, some of it is the government’s fault (some the previous government’s fault.. some the previous, previous government’s fault and so on ad infinitum). Some of it is the fault of big corporations.
None of that will change in a hurry.
The important thing is that there is a lot we as a…[Read more]

My take on this –
Hydrogen will probbaly form a part of a low carbon economy. Most likly as a way to store and even out renewables and also to provide a transport fuel as fuel cells/hydrogen are way better energy storage wise than current batteries.
Whether we will ever see a “hydrogen economy” as many advocates of hydrogen would like, I really…[Read more]

OK Folks… Lets all take a few deep breaths. The whole premise of this thread (carbon tax hurting the less well off) is bogus and it has strayed very firmly off topic into a “lets get stuck into Len” thread.
I’m going to close this one down.

On the water quality issue, I don’t think there is an additive yo can add to the tank. You would have to keep adding the additive anyway.
An inline cartridge filter might be the go though. You can get filter cartridges to filter out pretty much anything. Most setups use a 2 stage filter. One as a dirt screen the other with a charcoal or similar…[Read more]
