My son has started an aquaponics veggie garden. Does any one know anything about them and can you start your seeds in pearlite/vermiculite?
Yes I know a little bit about aquaponics [ probley had one of the biggest systems around ]
only have a small system now [getting old and grumpy]ha ha
perlite and especially vermiculite are no nos in aquaponics
Where in vic is he situated I know of running systems in most towns I can give him a heads up to look and see
Tell him to join the backyard aquaponics forum they are the best and the information is free
If he ever gets to sunbury he is welcome to view mine
Thanks Aussiedownunder, he is in Melbourne I will pass on the info to him. 🙂
I’m back 🙂 been a bit of a traumatic year as I lost hubby in January, have sold the farm and moved to Tasmania.
oh gosh, I remember you from the old days, sorry to hear about hubby, condolences to you
and yes it’s lovely to get hands back in the dirt
It is great to see you back.I am sad to hear about your Hubby. Tassie is a lovely place to start your new life.
Started wiring up the vienyard
Spent the last week hacking through undergrowth to get the old delapidated fence out so I can put up a new fence to keep the dog in.
Sorry to hear about your loss 🙁
sounds like you are happy with dirty hands
been on and off drizzle here today,
I had some lucerne mulch delivered on the weekend and I used some today and it is beautiful stuff doesn’t smell musty/moldy but smells good enough to eat…………in fact the neighbours horse came over and watched me spread it out.
I planted a tree today and I got another hole ready to plant into tomorrow……so 1 down another 23 to go………. no rest for the wicked LOL
Picked my first ripe tomatoes granted only small but othere are starting to turn
Power is back and Internet restored. We had a generator to fire up morning and night to keep the fridge/freezer and able to charge up mobiles charged, but even the wiz bang nbn went down. Mobile coverage is very poor here so there was no way for some folk to get emergency help if they needed it. The copper lines were not working either. It has been an absolute communications black out for some. Makes me question if these advances are actually advances.
Took the yellow skin off 60 lemons to make lemenchello
Then put the bodies through the mincer then through the tomato sauce machine
So now I have 7 litres of lemon juice
I think I will freeze it in ice blocks
Jees time for my nanna nap
