Eden Seeds came last thursday
Having had my veggie garden eaten to the ground by the Alpacas and Chickens it time to get started with preparations for Spring. Lots of lovely manure and digging underway but nothing planted yet
Haven’t got a lot in just now … the possum has been eating everything that isn’t in a cage, I found a small cage today so planted some tatsoi, transplanted some bunching onions and started some asparagus from seed will be planting some purple asparagus seed tomorrow.
Filled up 3wheelie bins today, trimmed the olive, lemonade lemon, mandarin , and frangipani, weeded veg beds x 6 , weeded a bank (sloped sight) 6m x 3m roughly.sprayed roses and fed, sprayed citrus and fed, am I TIRED……….YES .
I am putting in some black currents and rhubarb when it gets a wee bit warmer this morning, then attacking the weeds.
Just starting seeds for black strawberry’s blue strawberry’s and climbing strawberry’s
The blue ones are shooting
I have planted some gooseberries, the wattle is coming out and driving my hay fever off the scale so will be glad when that finished.
The gooseberry seeds I got from the visit we had to a permie garden are starting to sprout, asparagus is doing well, tatsoi up and growing….. this morning I decided that having 7 elderberry in one large pot would be too crowded so now I have 4 rooted cuttings, the lemon balm cuttings have roots coming out the bottom of the pots now but I’ll wait till last frost before planting in the garden.
Everyone is planting gooseberries! I put one in 3 years ago and it is doing Ok but not 1 blessed flower or fruit………………..any ideas?
They like cold winters, do you have them?
I should have said they were cape gooseberries they grow like weeds here “a weed is a plant growing in the wrong place” like in the middle of the driveway ……..
lost all mine in the frost
I love cape gooseberries so does Anna my dog.
Ok now I’m confused…………….ballamara said they like cold winters and calliecat lost hers in the frosts! Mine has survived the severe frosts that we get and climate must be close to what Judi gets but brain is ticking over after Judi said she has them every where…………………….I only have 1 plant, do I need another to pollinate and have just missed seeing the flowers?
