I’m currently trying to upload an Avatar but its not working 😐 I don’t know what I’m doing wrong…August 27, 2009 at 6:34 am #418241ChezzaParticipant
I’ve never been able to do the avatar thingy… Good luck…
I have mowed and collected the wood but that’s about it… I am going into town to do a big shop and then maybe home to do those walls…
I am going to get up early tomorrow to start on the shed and just kepp going until it’s finished!!August 27, 2009 at 6:44 am #418242
EMW – the solution is to have the cat in the bed, that way you wake up in the night shrieking, my blankie’s been stolen, rather than having to wake up and give the cat her’s back.:lol:
Chezza – sorry to hear about the bushfire. Not a likely problem here in the next few days. Give a few hot days and the onset of school holidays and they flames will roar it seems …:@
I have had a rather productive day today, for a change. I finished off the ‘checking out’ for the hinges of the hall door and trimmed top and bottom of the door so it now fits, have removed the sink from the back veranda in a fit of excitement following the arrival of the planning approval, measured up the hole where the front door and toplight are to go and measured the various bits that fit into the hole and concluded that it should all fit after all (will check those figures for the hundredth time tomorrow), drew the lines on the block of wood that will be the front door step so that I know where to cut it and stripped paint off the two door reveals that remain of the opening into the hall so that tomorrow I can undercoat them and the door all around, fit the jambs and, once the paint is dry, hang the door. I will have to bash a hole through the wall between the sewing room and the study, and out the back wall so I can continue to enjoy the benefits of electricity in the caravan, but that is all good fun anyway 😆
Oh, and following up on a post by Rene and John have discovered a new toilet system that may solve my problems on where to put the septic tank (though greywater still has to be dealt with somehow …).August 27, 2009 at 8:38 am #418243roundthebendMember

Today I did some creative work which made me feel happily exhausted… part of what I do involves providing support for young people who have some very big challenges in their lives, e.g. very ill parents; history of trauma. So today, I tailored some good support that, “Matched-the moment”, and a really quick effort it was too. Sometimes I work best with heaps and heaps to do!:shrug:August 27, 2009 at 9:45 am #418245
Yay, good on you teacup – wish there had been people like that around when I was growing up …August 27, 2009 at 11:03 am #418246darlsMember
Pasqualina, I usually give workshops/lectures on linguistics, as a trainer/lecturer at both Unis and such, but because I am also a trained life coach. So for the first time Im actually asked to give workshop on how to achieve what you wanted (creating well-formed outcomes, etc). So it was a great change of contents for me to give.
Did not do much and had a quite long ‘power’ nap today, heh zzz…
Gonna bed soon!
Cheers! :hugs:August 27, 2009 at 1:37 pm #418247narellehMember
A constructive day here too at last!
Late last night the boys fixed the leaking plumbing and all water was turned off until mid arvo today to give the PVC glue time to cure. Then we only used water gravity fed not though the pump – soonly a trickle in the kitchen but at least it was something – we had been running to the bore pump with buckets for loo and washing up – with 10 people here the loo gets plenty of use:lol:
Tonight after dinner we put the pump on to washup and have showers and all seems well in the plumbing dept :tup: Thanks wwoofers:clap:
The boys started the holes for the posts for the new chook pen today and repainted the loo a different colour – will need a few coats to cover the other colour tho:confused:
The girls and I baked banana cakes, cooked tomatoes for freexer, blanched 2kg carrots for freezer, baked anzacz, chook chips and jam drops. We made zuchinni bake for lunch and 1 for the freezer too. We made yorkshire puds for dinner – was a hit with all the Germans:tup:

Out in the garden for more spring preparations, more winter weeds pulled out, blood and bone and manure raked into the soil, it is going to be a lovely afternoon, then my eldest and I are going to see the latest Harry Potter.August 28, 2009 at 2:38 am #418250BullseyeMember
Been working on our electric fence energiser, it broke!
We had a power surge several hours after a scheduled power outage. The power spike took out the surge protector board that the energiser was plugged into, burnt the energiser’s internal fuse, melted the capacitor and burnt a resistor. Basically the energiser was smoking and smelled of burnt electronics….
A new replacement energiser of the same capacity costs about $600.
I did a bit of shopping for electronic component prices, to see if it was worth fixing. The energiser’s internal fuse cost $2, the capacitor $26 and the resistor $3. Just waiting on a resistor to be shipped from Victoria now.
I’ve replaced the other parts. But, without the resistor (for circuit board surge protection) the energiser is working perfectly! Whoohoo!

Have been cow watching again this morning, the last of the cows due to drop calves this year has finally had her calf but have been keeping an eye on her…………..after 5 hours she has passed the afterbirth ( was starting to get worried). Mum has been grazing non stop and the little bull calf is strong and keeping up with her and sucking:tup:
Now i have to think of another little red bull name as i was hoping for another hiefer:lol:

Call him Reuben RTB – he is very cute I have to say, even if he is steak on the hoof.
I undercoated the door and door frame today. Tomorrow the other side of the door gets a coat. Then the front side with the first layer of colour, and so on until it is ready to hang and I can attach hinges and latches without worrying about my inability to ‘cut in’ when painting. Also split a couple of barrow loads of wood for cutting tomorrow or the day after and fully removed the sink from the lean-to. tomorrow it will be the bar fridge (if I can work out what to do with it). Then I have to find homes for the contents of the bath (full of plastic sheeting etc) and the various other ‘keepers’ that are stowed there, so I have a clear go to commence demolition as soon as I get the piece of paper. might practice my skills on the dunny shed in the mean time.
Oh look Ma, it’s started to rain …August 28, 2009 at 11:32 am #418254NimrodelMember
