I’ve been to the local markets and a goods/chattels auction this morning – great fun and lots of good buys. Picked up 2 POL Isa’s, came home, let them out in the pen and 10 minutes later got my first egg – yeah
Off again in about 10 minutes to attend the local cattle auction. No intention of buying anything just want to get a handle on local prices and availability and soak up the atmosphere. I love the smell of cow poo, must be a bit mad I think.
The sun is shining after another rainy night, ’tis a bit cool though.
Have a great day everyone.

Hey Herbman, take a deep breath, have a cuppa and sit down gazing at the trees for a bit. I find that helps a lot when confronted with a pattern that is not working for me. Then go back and read the instructions and you will probably find that you have got to step 5 but overlooked the last paragraph of step 3 – that is usually what has happened to me.June 27, 2009 at 2:56 am #417402sewing ladyMember
this is a suffock puff pin cushionthat I made yesterday. What do you think?June 27, 2009 at 3:31 am #417403
😆 HBG – That’s exactly what I did – went and had breakfast. Played a bit more on ALS and then realised that while the instructions still didn’t make sense, I could see how to fudge it 😉 … It didn’t turn out quite perfect, but now that I’m almost finished I can see how to do it properly next time. 😀
When it came to the sleeves I chose to use another pattern to show how to attach them. They are two different brands and I prefer the style instructions of the brand I used to make my shirt to that of the swap thing.June 27, 2009 at 4:10 am #417404
yes, I personally prefer McCalls for instructions – some patterns seem to just leave whole chunks of information out. OK if you have sewn before, but not much use if it is a style you have never tried …June 27, 2009 at 4:12 am #417405Eira ClaptonParticipant
Good on you Herbman -you hang in there with that sewing.
Today my sister and I went to the gym and had a yoga class in which I amused myself by falling over quite a bit:D. Having done that, should I eat cupcakes or be good for a bit longer??
We are all recovering from a wonderful engagement party yesterday for my DS. The cupcakes are leftovers.
I think I will try to get someone else to do whatever of the housework has not yet been done (My lovely hubby has washed the floors and such) and just concentrate on something nice for tea.
Have just bought a new raised garden bed and am going to read Scarecrow and Doc’s blogs and figure out how to make it a wicking bed. That is about as much effort as I feel like for today.June 27, 2009 at 10:43 am #417406
Very sweet sewing lady… :tup:June 27, 2009 at 10:48 am #417407
Love the pincushion sewing lady – didn’t spot that earlier …June 27, 2009 at 10:59 am #417408narellehMember
Today we have a Japanese wwoofer helping us.
She weeded gardens in the morning. I did housework and some mending.
Took DS to work and got mower petrol.
Went to mow the area around the veg garden and while doing so the wheel fell off the mower:jawdrop: I was able to carefully finish what I was doing – but not more. Will have to get a new sirclip (??) on Mon so that will limit mowing to only 1 mower tomorrow:@
Wwoofer and I weeded some of the vege pen area and the fence. DH was weeeding another garden so we joined him there.
We whipped up some mushroom a la whatever and some tomato gravy and some leftover chicken and served this on a bed of rice for dinner.
DH and wwoofer have gone to pick up DS from work and maybe some aniaml spotting on the way to or from.
NO fog this morning RTB but the male pumpkin flowers still won’t release their pollen:@ and there have been 2 more female flowers and another one tomorrow:uhoh:
Tomorrow we will doing mowing and maybe if a nice day wash curtains and windows:tup:June 27, 2009 at 11:34 am #417409
Worked until 1230am so I let myself have a good sleep in until around 8am… Due to overnight rain the hockey fields were closed so we didn’t have to go there… 😀
DD and I went shopping for new PJs for DS1 and a few other things then went to Aldi for supplies for the 3 boys who will be away from tomorrow arvo until next Saturday… DD and I will be by ourselves…
This was about 1230 and then work rang me desperately needing me to come in… :rip: I had a big arvo planned but I decided I’d go in about 3pm for 5hrs (no lunchbreak and finish at 8pm.. ) It was so busy as a few shifts weren’t able to be covered…
Home, shower, chat with everyone who wanted to chat and now a slow cardy and a look around als…
My next shift is at 6.45am tomorrow for 5 hrs…. It will seem twice as long as uniboy is making a flying vist and hopes to get here about 8am…. Looks like a steak and 10 vegie meal tomorrow night!! 😆
Pretty boring day really…. (except, on a blog I’ve been following for months a pregnant mum had her baby today… stillborn!! I had to hide in the bathroom to have a howl…. So awful, just so awful… 🙁 )June 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm #417410
HBG – it was the McCalls instructions that I struggled with today. I like the Burbury instructions heaps better – esp the way they do their sleeves. Funny how our brains all come to the same conclusion in different ways … must depend on the way our internal logic works 🙂 🙂
Having said that, I had a win and am very happy with the result :metal:June 27, 2009 at 7:09 pm #417411
ah, the old ‘different logic processes syndrome …
supposed to be a fine day today and as I now have my socket wrench set I guess that means I get to mow the lawns as I will be able to replace the spark plug in the mower …June 27, 2009 at 7:43 pm #417412sewing ladyMember
herbman, have you tried style patterns. The have patterns for knit fabrics and for woven fabrics and are the easiest patterns to follow. I try to use them as much as possible.
Thank you hillbilly girl and chezza.June 27, 2009 at 8:09 pm #417413
Whatcha making H-man? 😀 Can we see?
:hug:June 27, 2009 at 9:46 pm #417414
No Chezza – you can’t see yet. It’s for my swap buddy. So you will see it soon enuff 😉
Today is the ALS Ipswich GTG 🙂 🙂 🙂 First a bike ride with mum then off to Ippy 🙂 🙂 🙂 :jawdrop:
