That sounds amazing ShellBelle!:tup:I think that it would have a very deep impact on you (whoever it was making those sorts of changes in general I mean) and it is something that i’d just love to try……..if it did happen to be an option for us.
I wish you the “best of luck” and yep keep us posted please.

Good on ya Shellebelle! Hope it all works out and I look forward to hearing about it!March 18, 2008 at 4:28 am #331307
Great work! A good decision and one that you will look back on as “the start of things” for years to come.
A year down the track for us and doing a similar thing has brought heaps of experiences, love and laughter. Wishing you the same.March 18, 2008 at 6:59 am #331308
Go for it and don’t loose the dream in the hard bits:tup:March 18, 2008 at 8:22 am #331309
Well done shellebelle. I wish you all the success – especially when I will be doing something similar in a couple of years… the DW will probably join me a couple years after that …:lol:March 18, 2008 at 11:35 am #331310
Sounds fantastic, and I’m sure you’ll have a ball. You’re right, it will be hard work but I’m sure so satisfying 🙂 Look forward to hearing your tales sometime – perhaps if you visit someone with internet you can update us every now and then?March 18, 2008 at 8:22 pm #331311
Sounds terribly exciting Shellebelle. Don’t forget that many libraries allow you to use the internet for free. Then you can let us all know how you are going every so often.
I think you are very brave. And am another of those who are jealous 😀 :metal:March 18, 2008 at 9:31 pm #331312
Shellbelle, I hope that for you and Ms B this adventure is everything that you want and need. Have fun with it :hug:March 19, 2008 at 8:59 am #331313
Best of luck to you both, wish we were doing it fulltime, but for now I got to be happy with a few weeks here and there. Best advice to you is to get an old caravan, do a few reno’s to make it more comfy. Storage is the biggest problem! Get an old bath on feet for a little candle light comfort. Some paver to have a nice flat area to sit on. But have lots of fun and stay focused on the dream, there will be tough days, the bad comes with the good days.:)March 19, 2008 at 10:17 am #331314
The bath is a great idea. Of grid friends have an old steel one in the yard that the light a fire under. A warm bath is very soothing for body & soul:tup:March 19, 2008 at 10:56 am #331315
I didn’t think you could just go and live out on your land…thought councils etc. put a limit on you living in caravans, tents etc.
That’s one think I love about New Zealand, you can still travel around there and live in a tent or park your car in a field and have a sleep, without police giving you a ticket for loitering.March 19, 2008 at 9:42 pm #331316
Sounds great ShellBelle.
Looking forward to hearing how it all goes.

You’re right Gleaner, I checked with the council and they dont like it. They can not make you remove a caravan or tent, to far under the radar, but they can send you a letter asking you not tp live full time in them. They also say that if you are going to live there be nice to the neighbours, only way the council know is if someone dobs.
On one side we have a guy who is fanatically paranoid about authority, he wont say a word. On the other we have a guy who needs us for wood, he’ll be keeping quiet. Up the back is a young family, we havnt met them yet so we plan on being super nice. There is 10 acres anyway, and we have got a nice spot where nobody can see us.
Thanks for all the well wishes. We have set up a blog and will be updating weekly. We do have a genny, but this is for once a week spoling sessions only. Nothing on the blog yet, Ill get back to you all on that.March 21, 2008 at 10:12 pm #331319
 Shellebelle I’m really happy that you are setting up a blog and will look forward to reading it.
Reading your “dropping out” and letting go of everything has re-ignited my own dropping out dreams. I have been slowly dropping out for a few years but have been keeping some hold of a part of my previous life. Now, you have inspired me to keep with my dreams.
All the best:hug:
