I’m looking to buy a tow behind slasher/mower to help keep the grass under control on my bush block. Has anyone had any experience with products sold through distributers by twm imports. I can purchase a 17hp model for $1900 but i cant find one to look at before i buy to see what the quality is like. I dont like buying sight unseen. Has anyone had any experience with any of their products?April 28, 2011 at 10:32 am #495217
lost me mae i went looking at their sites they sell hand tools etc.,. can’t find any ractor slasher set ups to look at for you. can you point me at the 17hp model you talk of?
is it a proper tractor or lawn rider mower?
do you have locel tractor suppliers might be best to start there or near local oft time they have good second hand known brands for sale. we bought a bolens iseki 24hp i think from a local bloke.

They tow behind an ATV or ride on mower or anything similar. Polaris manufacture a more expensive model if you look up their site. Todds Machinery in Albury sell the TWM models.April 30, 2011 at 9:33 am #495219
do you have a link that shows what you are looking at?? i try all sorts of searches and turn up nothing to see.
do you have a rider mower already?
almost like there is some secrecy. if you can give me something to go on i’ll try and help. can you post links?

I already have a Honda 400 4WD bike and an old tow behind slasher which no longer works. It only had a 8.2HP moter which was not powerful enough in thick grass.April 30, 2011 at 10:46 am #495221
Hey Len I’m curious now too, I found this, I hope the link works.
I don’t think it would be hard to make a tow behind out of an old rideon deck and vertical shaft motor but then why not just use a rideon.
ps link didn’t workApril 30, 2011 at 11:22 am #495222
yeh i got the idea what gerry want just can’t get any links to the brands he mentions. rover use to make a dual cutter model to be towed behind its rider mowers. gerry mentioned having an an 8hp unit?? he could fit a bigger motor to that one surely.
as i see it the ow behind models won’t work exactly as good as those atached to proper tractors, so might be thatthe operator needs to slash more often?
again i would suggest talk to a specialist shop dealing in this type of equipment, look for second hand stuff for sale.
also need to be sure that the towing machine has the capacity to do the job they usually have maximum towing weights.
for now unless gerry comes up with some links or other information maybe we have gone as far as we can go?
so far they all seem to be over the $2k price mark?
anyhow gerry let us know

I’m super interested in finding a slasher that tows behind a car, I have an old Suzuki soft top that has just been retired to the block as a chook chaser. Plan on making her into a tractor.
I’ve heard about slashers that can do this, even plug into the cars electrics so dont need an independant motor, but can’t seem to find one. Anyone heard of these?
Currently have a couple of cows doing the dirty work for me, but they are destined for the freezer.April 30, 2011 at 3:03 pm #495224
you could simply buy one of the ones featured above and hook it up to the car.
now that bit about hooking into the car electrics and not needing an independant motor? have you go more on that? you need some sort of motor to turn the blades, even if it is an electric motor powered by the cars electrics. have to be one heck of a motor but.

We have a “tow n mow”slasher that we pull behind our four wheel motorbike. Its a good at slashing down weeds, thistles . I think its about ten years old and it has a 12.5hp Briggs and stratton motor with electric start. I notice the newer models here have honda motors. You can offset the slasher so your not riding over what you’re trying to cut , which is handy when the stuff is tall.April 30, 2011 at 8:28 pm #495226
LOL @ ShellBelle……suzuki chook chaser…….May 5, 2011 at 11:13 am #495227
I have a few TWM items including a slasher for my tractor.
I am also waiting for one of their engines to fit onto
an old mulcher i picked up.
I have some expirence with chinese engines and you do get
what you pay for but if you are only mowing your place and
not expecting to make a living mowing with it it will be fine.
Is your old unit still ok maybe u could fit a new engine to it
and save some money.
I buy wholesale from TWM through my work PM me if you want more info.
