I think Judi might be on dial up. That shouldn’t cause it to be that slow, surely.November 1, 2010 at 8:38 am #481212

It should be faster than the old site for sure, But this site will require the browser to be a minimun Internet Explorer 7, It will work with IE6 or less but I don’t some things will work..
Internet Explorer 8
If you are using Linux or Mac (Or windows) and you are using Mozilla Click help – -> check updates
I’m not sure if this is the problem Judi but it’s a start. We’ll try and get this sorted for you.. One thing I’m thinking of doing is having a lite theme, that is very no frills and wiz bangs, that will load up nice and fast on dial up.. Until then though I will do some more testing.November 1, 2010 at 9:14 am #481213
This site works OK on Google Chrome as well, can get slow in waiting to load a new page (eg moving from page 7 to page 8 of this thread) within threads but it doesn’t happen always. Didn’t think until I read Judi’s comment that it might be feedback you can use lol…
I like the idea of a lite theme. I am on BB but there are times when I am on wireless BB and it is much slower and more picky. A lite theme would be of great benefit. 😀November 1, 2010 at 10:15 am #481214
I use Firefox and it’s quite quick, even with the latency of satellite.November 1, 2010 at 10:31 am #481215

I think the bigpoo need to put new string out this way on DU meter my download speed is 3.0kB/sec.November 1, 2010 at 11:50 am #481216
Okay, the forum page is looking much better today – less busy, less irrelevant information, quicker to open and cleaner to read. Not sure if the size of the characters has been reduced too but it does look much improved today.November 1, 2010 at 11:56 am #481217
I am soooooo confused. might take me a while to work this one out.
My question is , can someone clever please start a thread to explain what all the new things up top are for, profiles, topics ect and the friends thing? what is that for? I dont do facebook or any of those type of things and this set up is completly new to me.:blush:November 1, 2010 at 11:58 am #481218
Just an addit on the design of the forum page – the splitting up of the columns for “number of replies” and ‘page views’ adds to the clutter from a design perspective.
Like the old site, it was much clearer to have the two columns with numbers placed alongside each other.
Having the ‘number of replies” in the far left column somehow gives more unnecessary weight from a visual perspective to it.November 1, 2010 at 12:02 pm #481219

Oh yes, oh yes. This is much better. This morning the site is “friendlier” looking and seems easier to navigate. ID’s & Avatars on the left is definitely an improvement too. Good job!November 1, 2010 at 1:39 pm #481223
