yes they are like kids with their proverbial hands in the lolly jar, you have 2 options pay and maybe lose your pet, or have your pet put to sleep early on, emotional blackmail.

thank you all for your kindness,
our dog zarah lost her fight for life early this morning.
mores the pity in this secular australia that the money was put before the welfare of our pet, they make every post a winning post.
it will take time for her memory to dim, but the pain of the debt will be with us for a time.
all i can suggest to vet’s is come back to the compassionate period, when once before we had a pet in trouble and the welfare of the pet came 1st before the money, which they (the same vet clinic) allowed us time to pay.
once again for the kind people here we thank you.
len & bev
ps: silly bit we have paid pet insurance to around the value of $400 over the past 10 months, a policy that would never have helped us.August 2, 2012 at 11:16 am #519514
I am sorry 🙁
so hard losing a much loved pet
if you are a long time customer, I can’t understand why they don’t allow long timers time to payAugust 2, 2012 at 11:26 am #519515
I’m really sorry for your loss. 🙁August 2, 2012 at 11:27 am #519516

sympathy to you and bev …….. may zarah rest in PeaceAugust 2, 2012 at 12:27 pm #519518
So sorry you lost Zarah.August 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm #519519
thank you bluewren,
we have lost our pet.
but still the vet is putting stumbling blocks in place 1st we held back a day to apply for a gem card that has been approved, once approved we took zarah in now they need us to have definite confirmation of gem or the card which of course is a day or so away. they have little compassion in their quest for self interest.
this is madness like other beliefs secular people have
new information says that the very limited information the very 1st vet gave us was not good they now say that zarah should have been first consideration, but a bit late hey?
if there are any vet’s or aspiring vet’s reading this please for humanities sake pay heed.

I’d be looking at changing vets for any future petsAugust 2, 2012 at 4:24 pm #519521
we are calliecat,
our trauma continued until we eventually drove out of the vet with zarah.
they tried to soften their lack of compassion by saying we could have simply bought the dog in on tuesday, but then she said they would not do any treatment until we could confirm we could pay, the same continued we were not going to get zarah back before they had confirmation their money was guaranteed. the bill $692.33cents, love the 33 cent bit even to $2 bit, but then to add further to our injury gem card co’ slugged us 4% surcharge because we made a transaction before our card arrived.
all the discussion about finance and paying happened before all other patients waiting at the front counter.
we had a call mid arvo’ yesterday saying she was doing fine, then last night they phoned us at 7pm saying she was stable and all was ok, and to ask us if things changed could they ring us through the night, we said of course.
all i can say is anyone in the gold city north of brissy, don’t take your pet to the banks of the mary river, they have 13 vets, and no compassion.
take care all and many thanks for the support.
zarah is in the ground now

I’m very sorry for your loss Len and I do understand how you feel.
The vet we chose, said she would look after our suspected snake bite staffy overnight and call in the morning to say how he was doing. She called at 6am saying he was really bad and would not make it. I decided to do the kind thing and told her to put him to sleep and said we would drop in at 9 after we took the kids to school and collect him and pay the bill. I was so upset that I stayed in the car and let Hubby go in to do it. He took forever, I only found out later that the vet had waited for us to settle the bill before euthenising (sp?) him. Shit that was about 7 years ago and it still makes me cry and makes my blood boil.August 2, 2012 at 7:33 pm #519523
that is cruel – that is horrible – that now has me very worried re vets in general now
never mind the one I’ve been going to for the last 16yrs 🙁August 2, 2012 at 7:34 pm #519524
