After discovering yesterday that my “nifty” tap timer decided to leave the drippers running all night and all day yesterday… when it was raining too, just because it decided it didn’t want to click to off, I’m thinking I need a decent timer for my dripper system.
Any recommendations for good, reliable ones that I don’t have to double check just to make sure it’s turned off?March 9, 2011 at 7:17 pm #492355
Hi Fozzie, what a damn nuisance. I have two Pope timers and have not had any troubles with them so far. Mine turn to timer clockwise and automatically shut off after the set time. I also have an ON function if I turn it anti-clockwise from the off mark and need to turn it off manually.
I would go to the shop you bought it from and explain what happened. One question, why were you watering yesterday?March 9, 2011 at 7:32 pm #492356
Perty hard to beat the pope onesMarch 9, 2011 at 8:00 pm #492357
Not watering yesterday, I turned the timer on Tuesday evening as it had been fairly warm, so wanted to make sure the seedlings got a water. I don’t like to completely rely on the weather forecast of possible rain… The established vegies can do without, but not the little ones!
I think the one I have is Holman, I’ll get a Pope and see how that goes! The Holman will come in handy as an unreliable spare anyway!March 9, 2011 at 8:45 pm #492358
Must be something in the air – mine did that a few weeks ago – Mind you, I don’t think the plants minded.March 9, 2011 at 9:33 pm #492359
Hmmm… It is a Pope branded one. I’ll keep an eye on it next time I water and if it’s still malfunctioning (ie not user malfunctioning! 😆 ) I’ll take it back… If I can find the receipt!!March 10, 2011 at 9:43 am #492360

🙂 (thats a laughing smilie) Hope the water goes down soon RTB.
Hey Foz, I have a Gardenmate digital timer from Mitre 10, its brillant and you can set it to come on for different days and stuff like that. I use it in my hothouse to water seedlings especially when we are on holidays.March 10, 2011 at 12:08 pm #492362
Ahhh… Maybe that’s Mother Nature’s problem at the minute… a broken timer for the tap 😉 Hopefully she’s reading this thread then if that’s the case. Seriously… hope the water subsides!
Thanks Lizzie! I was thinking that a semi automatic one would be handy… I could set it for before I ge home from work (late evening) so I know that it’s off, if I need to water another lot of veg I can always turn on the taps and turn the timer back on.March 10, 2011 at 12:41 pm #492363
Unfortunately more rain forecast for the next forseable future, fozzie I dont know wether to laugh or cry with the comment on mother nature…………………I live on Gaia ( earth godess) road…………….perhaps I really am going anound the bend!March 10, 2011 at 12:54 pm #492364
I’ve heard about more rain being forecast… stay safe and I’m hoping it doesn’t affect you more than what it has already!March 10, 2011 at 1:10 pm #492365
Thanks fozzie……………..wish I could send the rain to you and you wouldn’t have to worry about a tap timer:)March 10, 2011 at 1:16 pm #492366
