G’day all .. (or G’morning, considering the time)
For those that undertook the SImply Living Survey, you will see from your inbox that the results are now available.
For those that have not yet done the survey, or just ‘simply’ interested, you can view the results here:

Long read, but really interesting.
The one take-home point I got from it is that we should not look at ourselves as ‘escaping from society’ but more as a planned coordinated shift toward simplicity.
And looking from that point of view, maybe there are particular changes we can make to make it easier for our simplicity seeking friends.
Eg, would it be impossible to lobby the council to provide better public transport in rural or lightly populated areas, to make it easier for people who want to live without cars?
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito

Thanks for posting that Andre – was just coming on to do the same.
A big thankyou to everyone who participated and otherwise supported the survey efforts – we’re extremely pleased with the results.
We’ll probably have to abbreviate the initial manuscript for journal publication, so shorter versions will be coming out in due course for those who found this one a little long!

very informative and in it’s own way, uplifting. It validates and materializes everything that most of us feel instinctively.Thanks.April 21, 2011 at 9:14 pm #494896s.alexanderMember
Greetings all, thanks for the comments. One question Andre: any chance the title of this post can be changed to “The Results of the Simple Living Survey” … just so that it isn’t confused with the earlier posts calling for participants? Not a big deal, but if it’s easy enough, that would be good.
Once again, thanks to all the participants. We’re all in this together! Consider it a collaborative undertaking.
We would really appreciate further comments should more of you decide to read the paper.

I just thought I’d try changing the title (by simply editing it). Not sure if everyone can do this, or just the post originator.
We shall see……

Just a note on the download link – it’s best to use:
rather the link Andre gave above, as updated versions aren’t always on the exactly same link (changed file names etc).
