Does anyone have a recipe to replace the sachets of smelly powder stuff  you put into the fly traps???
we sue 1.25 to 2 lt bottles put in about a teaspoon of minced meat add a cup or a bit of water, give it a swill around the break up the mince, works wonders.
we cut 2 opposing inverted ‘v’ windows where the body of the bottle meats the neck push the little windows open a bit to all the flies in, replace every couple of weeks or so just stick duct tape over the windows and place in bin.
vegemite also works.
gardenlen, that’s how we make our fly traps too.
We have 3 to 4 on the go at one time all hanging next to each other out the back.
We found putting in some red cordial also attracts them,we use a bit more mince though.
We just empty the contents out in the paddock and start again.
yep can use more mince, wow always too smelly for us to bother opening teh bottles, putrid. we opt for new bottles.
we use blood and bone mixed with water..takes a couple of days to work but it will work really well…just give the bottles a bit of a swirl everyday and add more water now and then.
The bottle emptying job is DH’s gardenlen not mine thankgoodness.
I’ve set up three traps with three different ‘brews’, will see how they all go!
They ALL stink, so it’s now up to the fussy flies to choose!!!
