Our bully calf is a Hereford x jersey and is 6 months old now.He is eating well and still on mum too during the day. What age is the best to put them in the freezer? He still has his testicles and is only about a foot shorter than his mum.
Good question Girl Friday. We’ve been reading up on the same thing. Anything from 6 months from what we’ve read, according to the size you want. The guy from River Cottage Australia (can’t remember his name) butchered a jersey bull and says it’s the best veal he’s ever eaten. I haven’t watched the episode yet, but might get some tips from that. Our calves were 5 weeks old on Wednesday and are growing fast. They are eating well too – they love hay and pellets.
