Wondering if anyone in the group has herd of “potato onions” (prefer brown) special type of bunching onion.
Looking to plant some this year so willing to swap or buy with someone.
I have :
Rocoto chili ( best chili in the world! :P)
Tansy and yarrow seedlings
Raspberry canes (Nootka and everberring)
Sweet potato tubers for sprouting (ie not sprayed with sprouting inhibitor)
Hi EW, Do a search on here and look for the thread that Simply_Belinda started on Potato Onions, I put a pic on there, check if this is what you are after and get back to me.
they sure look the same and bunch like the descriptions says.
if you have any spare let me know and we can swap or come to an arrangement.
are they about shallot size????
Hi there EW,
I have potato onions. I planted them quite sometime ago now, but I actually thought they had not grown. But upon weeding the patch they were in I have discovered that they are indeed alive. But only seedling size.
I may be able to get some of the bulbs off my friend who gave me mine. I am not sure. But if you are still after some, I can ask.. let me know 🙂
If you are able to get enough could we please have a couple for the comm garden please?
Sure Maree, I will see what I can do 🙂

Are ‘potato onions’ the same as tree onions? I have lots of those and they bunch up well. they’re not brown though.
I’d be happy to swap for a few water chestnuts
