January 15, 2011 at 3:44 pm #254202
Unfortunately the water tanks we ordered and paid a deposit on are NOT coming as the whole thing was a scam.
A scam that crossed 3 states and put a lot of people out of pocket.
Many people have been caught up in this very clever scam that everyone thought it was legit.
Thankfully people have made enough noise etc that the people responsible are in fact known and the main person has been jailed before on fraud charges.
Unfortunately for us he was able to set up something else and do it all over again.
There has to be steps put in place to prevent these people from continually scamming people.Surely their names can be red flagged when they apply for ABN’s or business names.
Look i’m probably just farting in the wind if I think that this hasnt been tried , well whomever is in charge of things like this just keep failing the general pulic when they dont pull the reins in on these people.
I dont know enough about where to go and what to do in situations like this as I’ve never been caught up like this so thankfully there have been others who have been able to direct me in the right direction, though unfortunately for themselves they know because they’ve been there.
So thankyou to those people ,they know who they are. I appreciate the time and effort you have put in to help a stranger.January 15, 2011 at 4:14 pm #487525
This sort of scam really annoys me as it obviously required a lot of planning and therefore was just designed to rip people off. Name & shame them I reckon. The ACCC is trying to crack down on Phoenix companies and I totally agree that red flagging individuals is a good thing.
Karyn26, I feel for you as you dont deserve to be a victim of this woeful premeditated behaviour. Keep your chin up and your faith in humans intact as there are a lot more good people than bad in this country.
Keep smiling, cheers porgey.January 15, 2011 at 5:16 pm #487526BronMember

Its sad cos you think your doing the right thing for the enviroment and you get scammed (not everyone is like this but this is how people prey, find out what is in demand and BAM! Got ya!). Sad! I dont know why money is more important then standards? Cant people be happy without scamming those who dont have the money to be scammed away? Not saying those who have money should be scammed but those who save their pennys seem to be the ones who cop it 🙁
The company Karyn is talking about are scammers, its been proven time and time again and just cos some one has a ABN dosent mean they dont scam, its apart of it. Sad but true, more “real” the company looks the easier it is to scam others and fool people 🙁
Hope you get your tanks eventually honey and chin up Karma is a nasty one 🙂
Edited to add, google is your friend. If you want to know more about a company google them. You will find good and bad about them but it will give you some idea of who has dealt with them and what it was like. And always go with your gut feeling, if it sounds too good to be true it mostly is 🙁January 15, 2011 at 7:29 pm #487528GothmotherMember
It really is getting difficult to know who to trust. this is disgusting and people responsible should be named and prevented from ever holding an abn and jailed for a very long time. truthfully I am for shooting them, we don’t need scum like this in the world.January 15, 2011 at 7:52 pm #487529Sarah JaneMember

I also wonder how they keep getting a ABN.January 15, 2011 at 11:23 pm #487530
I think shooting them is a bit much but an eye for an eye is a good start. I think they should be charged & jailed for there crime and be forced to pay there victims back. Its to easy to scam other peoples money and leave the intended victims with no financial recourse and they need to pay for this woeful & deceitful behaviour.January 16, 2011 at 8:04 am #487531AnonymousGuest
that is why we always say to people, buy your tanks from long serving rural tank makers, ok you may pay a bit more, but you won’t lose your money and you get a stronger tank, as rural makers have their good name to maintain as well.
we still think bundaberg tanks are hard to beat, there’s a lot of them out there and they make them right down to victoria now.

Makes me wonder too how they can keep going into business, surely their name has to come up somewhere in the paper work.
More stringent measures need to be put in place ,make it harder to get an ABN,and have everything about the business checked weekly, keep someone in a job surely.
Make it harder fo people to hide behind company names.
If/when they are caught they should be stripped of all their belongings like drug dealers and paid back to the people they ripped off.Plus spend a lot of time in jail.
They were dealing with one of the major banking groups so they ,the bank ,could be up for the loss of everyones money.
So today I have been researching some companies regarding tanks hopefully things will go better this time round.
Porgey,Idid feel rotten when I found out about these people but then realised it wasnt my fault they are bastards, and there are a lot more decent people around to cancel them out.Damn space invaders, oxygen theives whatever you want to label them.Karma will get them.January 16, 2011 at 8:00 pm #487533bluezbanditMember
We got caught up in this scam as well. We have referred it to the Consumer people and been to the bank and had credit card replaced.
I think karma will get them big time.

That’s really terrible. I’m sorry for the people who got conned. 🙁January 16, 2011 at 11:19 pm #487535
Sorry to hear that bluezbandit ,hope you didnt pay the full amount for your tanks ,we only paid a deposit but $300 was still plenty to lose.
MY new card comes soon too.Cant get here quick enough really.
Did you report it to the Fair Trading and also make a police report as it should get sent onto the fraud squad.
Amazing how much news on it has circulated on the net,I came across something by accident today looking for water tanks and there from the local ABC there was an article about it from today.
Fingers crossed they get caught and go away for a very long time.January 17, 2011 at 12:05 am #487536bluezbanditMember
We gave the scumbags $540.00 for our deposit. We suspected we’d been had when we tried to call to organize delivery and their phone had been cut off. My husband did a scam search on google and came up with many others who’d been duped as well.

I’d be worth talking to your bank, I’m with st george & they have been able to return money fruadulently removed from my account even though it had been in the scammers account.January 17, 2011 at 12:20 pm #487538
What goes around comes around so the people involved will get there punishment. I just hope that everyone involved will get some sort of compensation and I hope that all comes from the scammers.
Please remember that goodness is far better than badness. Rather than being bitter & revengeful please keep in mind that the real losers are the scammers. They have lost there decency & dignity as well as the trust of others and soon there liberty will be gone as they face the bleak view of inside prison.
Keep smiling and Karma will reward you in kind ways.
