Property looks brilliant!!!April 9, 2014 at 11:30 pm #533219
Having a bit of ‘house widthdrawal’.
We’ve sold our Perth property, which will help bring the mortguage down a fair bit. We’re still stuck in this mining town until December and it’s really, really starting to wear thin.April 10, 2014 at 12:40 am #533220
The wait will be worth it, albeit hard. Can you use the time to plan and prepare for when you get there. Are you able to take trips and visit the area so look around and see what grows well there, what tradies and what stores and suppliers are available to get things going when you get there. Maybe find about groups etc online that you can join in. Maybe research garden clubs, environmental or sustainable groups…. Waiting can be a bit like a pregnancy lol… the last bit is the longest and hardest. Hang in there your Utopia is not far away :hug:April 10, 2014 at 12:01 pm #533221
Alas, flights from Kalgoorlie are some of the most expensive in the world per km travelled (it can cost from $200 – $500 just for the 1hr to Perth, let alone anywhere else) so visits are out of the question for the forseeable future.
I’m looking up permaculture stuff and we’ve a list of highly desired trees and a supplier. We’ve picked out the flooring, recieved a sample then bashed it with a hammer, jumped on it with high heels and submerged it in water overnight (what? I want to know how it will react under different circumstances 🙂 We’ve bought ceiling fans that an electrician will install at some point (he has them now). I’m running out of things to research.
I suspect I’m just terrible at waiting 😀 It’s like being on hold – no major holidays because we need the paid time to move, no new furnature as it will have to be moved and so on.August 17, 2014 at 10:50 pm #533222
Booked our plane tickets for Dec 19th…October 23, 2014 at 11:39 pm #533223
Just another update;
Most things seem to be heating up preparing for the move. We’ve drastically underestimated the amount of stuff we have and are selling some off. George did well at the last market selling some of his cactus.
The tennants who are in our new house (christened ‘Elsewhere’) are being a bit bothersome- a tadesperson let slip a few months ago that we are looking at moving in ourselves. We had been advised by the rental agency not to mention it to the tennants until everything could be put in writing at the appropriate time.
The tennants had a huge go at the agents and have been putting a bit of pressure on usabout how difficult we are making it for them. They will have had over six months notice by th time they leave, we’re letting them break lease earlier if they find a place AND we have offered to store their stuff. I’m trying to be a nice person, but I don’t seem to be able to make them happy and, to be honest, I am running out of sypathy, especially as they wrote a letter of complaint saying the tradies (two they had requested for a broken window and decking – the third was essential maintainance of the septic system) were interrupting their ‘quiet enjoyment’. I am really starting to be concerned things won’t go well getting them out!
The donwhill run towards the end of the year is super busy for me. I want the time to pass quickly, but also need this time to do everything I need to. AAAARGH!October 23, 2014 at 11:40 pm #533224
Oh, and on other news we have purchased the tiles for the kithen splashback. Wall is going to be teal, the tiles handpainted alvera. Take that, resale value!October 26, 2014 at 1:15 pm #533225
I wouldn’t want to leave paradise either 😉 good luck getting them out! Hopefully it doesn’t make one of the best moments in your life not so enjoyable!October 27, 2014 at 3:22 pm #533226
Fingers crossed.October 29, 2014 at 2:59 am #533227
Bugger resale value and crappy tenants…..Your tiles are stunning and your home/land just beautiful. Before you know it you will be moved in and enjoying your new lifestyle. Don’t let worries get you down….for one, they rarely end up as bad as you imagine and two, if they do, deal with it and get on with living. Do not give anything permission to interfere with your relationship or your home. Now enough lecturing from an old bat…..keep posting and stay happy.November 4, 2014 at 10:42 pm #533228
It seems like (finally) we at least have the agents on our side.
We are starting the ‘deconstruct’ process here – the loungeroom is full of boxes and we’ve been slowly been selling the stuff that we aren’t taking. I HATE packing!November 17, 2014 at 11:41 pm #533229
Tennants are moving out Nov 28! Flooring has been paid, movers booked! 5 weeks to go!
