    G’day Guy’s,

Well it only took a few minutes after I saw Dave’s reply to setup the IRC chatroom. The server is based in Albury NSW and my good friend Ross agreed to let me set up a room for this forum. Rossbot is also in there and it is one handy bot too. to learn all it’s commands just type !help in the room and a webpage will come up with all the commands.

    The server is irc.albury.net.au

    and the room is #ALS

    Cheers Bryan

Hmm.. all I get is the home page.

No indication of a chatroom … but then again, I could be missing something.

    🙂

    Hi Andre,

In order to use the IRC one will need a IRC client (software) I use Icechat which is freeware and I do feel it’s quite good.

OK in order to use the IRC chatroom one will need to instal a IRC client.

    http://www.icechat.net/site/

This is the software I use and I do find it quite good. There are a heap of other IRC software programs around and some are free others are trialware then a fee must be paid in order to keep using it.

Once the software is installed one needs to setup the server and room.

I’ll be in & out all day as I’m working on Greths new shed so I can helpout if needed.

    Cheers Bryan

    Thanks Bryan,

I think I will need to find a Mac friendly client. I will look into this a bit later.

    Thanks for doing this 🙂

    Hi Humbug,

For use with a Mac, you could try Colloquy. Here’s a link:

    Hi Guy’s an Gal’s,

Well into day 5 since the IRC chatroom was setup and upto date only 2 members have come in when I’ve been around. Both have said is a great idea and one does realize it will take time for members to get used to a chatroom. But eh one thing can be assured it is and will be friendly place.

    Cheers Bryan

Perhaps if some/all/any of those who are really, really interested you/they could arrange a time to all meet there and chat until the cows/bulls come home.

You know “See you all there Friday night at 1900hrs” kind of thing.

    Just a thought :woohoo:

    Doc 😉

I downloaded Icechat, it seems relatively straightforward and simple to use.

Got to say I’m surprised there hasn’t been a massive uptake considering the number of people who expressed their desire to have a chat room.

    Any takers?
