Hi, just wondering if anyone makes their own stock cubes and able to give any advice, any info would be very appreciated.
Hi Maden, I have never done this, but depending on what you want to do, I can’t imagine it could be too hard. If you just want vegetable stock, you should be able to dry the veggies with a dehydrator and then grind them with some salt in a coffee grinder or similar. Not sure how you’d go with meat based stock. I’ve been buying Herbamare powder for the last year or so and using that in place of stock, it’s really lovely and full of flavour. Have you done a google search? Must be others out there who’ve had a go. Good luck with it!
You could try tarhana a Turkish soup mix
Basically veg yoghurt and flour made into a sour dough, then turned into cakes, dried in the sun, crumbled and stored, use a few spoons to make a soup
I’ve never though to do this! What an interesting idea.
I first saw it on Shane Deliha’s Middle eastern cooking show on SBS
I was amazed centuries ago people worked out how to make fast food from their surplus, to feed them in the winter lean times.
I think you can buy some powdered version from a Greek or Turkish deli to give it a try.
