Hi there, I cannot tell you how clever I feel to have found this group! We live in Cobram, Victoria on 3 acres with a view to a fully sustainable lifestyle by the time we retire. We were VERY excited late 2008 to find a family in the area with the same idea!!
With our 7 little people we are pretty proud of the relatively small footprint we are leaving on this planet to date with such a large tribe. Our main “oddities” (according to the locals) besides having 7 children, are that we don’t have free to air TV, we keep animals and vegetables to support ourselves and we thought seriously about homeschooling (though decided to go with a small rural school in the end which is a lot like a big family- 45 kids in the whole school). I’m sure we cop flak because we like our kids and we don’t take them to all the ‘fun’ stuff like amusement parks, movies etc. but we all love what we have here and don’t feel the need to entertain ourselves all the time. Hopefully here we can interact with likeminded people and ask all those questions we’ve been dying to bounce off someone!!
Our main obstacle to hurdle atm is that we have not yet paid for our land in full and therefore cannot have DH stay at home yet as there is a mortgage to pay:uhoh:January 10, 2010 at 3:15 am #450025

:wave:How long have you lived in Cobram? My father was born in Yeilima, we still holiday there during the winter. In our younger days we always used to camp on a sandbar at Snake Bend and make daytrips to Morgan’s Beach. I love the area.

I have lived in Cobram since I was 10 and my husband hails from Yarraweyah where he was born and bred. I did move away to the city for a while but my family and the river drew me back – there really is no place like home! Thanks for the welcome, I think I’m gonna love it here!!:hug:January 10, 2010 at 1:16 pm #450032
