Hi everyone. I just found your forum. I live in the western suburbs of Melbourne but I am longing to move to somewhere that has a bit more land. Around I acre would be great. I don’t know if this will ever happen for me and I was getting very frustrated so I have decided on building up the skills I would need if I am ever able to move away from suburbia. My skills are sadly lacking but I am working on things. I made my first loaves of bread last week and my vegetable garden is going reasonably well. I love working with paper and make my own cards. We have solar panels and I do most of my cooking from scratch.
G’day AnneMc and welcome to the forum.
Looks like you are have made a good start to living a simpler life.
Well done, and enjoy the information and stories from other like-minded individuals from around the country. 🙂
Hello and welcome to ALS. I hope your dreams of country living come true.
Hi AnnMc and welcome to the forum :). Never give up on your dreams – after living in suburbia for years, we are moving to a property in the Adelaide Hills on 25 acres at the end of the month! Never thought it would happen. It sounds like you’ve already started your journey – looking forward to hearing where it takes you.
Hi and welcome to the forum
Hi AnnMc, welcome 🙂
Hi there Ann.. yes never give up on your dreams!
Welcome to the forum
From one n00b to another, welcome aboard Ann.
Your story is similar to mine. However, I finally bit the bullet and I am turning the dream into a reality.
One of the concerns I had when I first realises the dream was the cost. “How could I possibly afford a nice block of rural land without getting into massive debt; and how would I then pay for it being so far from everything?” Well, I moved the goal posts a bit and realised that it was possible.
In the meantime I, like you, am doing my best at urban sustainability. 🙂
Thanks for the welcome everyone. I’m looking forward to learning lots here.
