Hey guys, I found about 15 little black things on my olive tree today. There small about the size of my little fingernail.I cpuld easily pick then off and they didn’t appear to damage the tree but any ideas what they were?
Any chance you could post a photo or perhaps describe in a bit more detail. What shape, legs, etc. etc.
Sounds like scale insects but depending on how big your finger nail is, I’ve never seen them that large
Yeah I should have taken a photo, but I was in a hurry to get rid of them. They are hard to describe, there very small. About the size of a droplet of water. Spherical in nature. Black, and almost appeared to have pinkish/ reddish sap in them but it was dried sap. I don’t know how else to explain it. I’ll head out side this arvo and see if I missed one and take a photo of it.
We are talking insects of some kind are we? You’ve never actually said.
