Just wondering if someone can tell me what type of caterpillar this is? (I’m located in the Mid North of SA)
And also the best way to get rid of them? They are very hungry and eating my grape vines at an incredible rate!
I’ve picked most of them off and have use some Eco oil but I’d love to know other organic ways of getting rid of the little ones!!
It is a grapevine moth, Phalaenoides glycinae
They will kill your grapevines if there are enough of them. I try to remove them by hand to lower numbers, but that is not effective enough.
Something with bt toxin in it would probably kill them. I do not know if there are any parasites or parasitoids that will help you on this one.
you need wasps
Grapevine moth explains exactly why they are only targeting my vines!
Thanks for your help guys 🙂
