I have just joined up and am looking forward to sharing and receiving thoughts on trying to live a simpler life. Here is a little about me: we (hubby, little dog and me) sold up our Sydney home (mainly bank’s) 2 and a half years ago and have been travelling in NSW & Qld to ultimately find somewhere we would like to spend the next stage of our lives. It has been quite easy living without all the things that cluttered every room of our house. My dream is to live simply and as self-sufficient as possible where ever we end up. 🙂January 2, 2010 at 4:38 am #449228
HI Rosy. Welcome to ALS. It sounds like you have been living the idyll for the past 2.5 years. Has anywhere caught your eye yet???January 2, 2010 at 4:39 am #449229
Hi RosY. :wave:January 2, 2010 at 5:01 am #449230
Welcome Rosy and I hope you find your special piece of Australia in which to put down roots. I’m currently travelling around for a year or so with no fixed itinerary. Presently camped in a place called Broke in NSW where it’s raining cats and dogs. The address is kind of appealing, you have to admit.January 2, 2010 at 5:07 am #449231
Hello and welcome to ALS Rosy:wave: How is it being on the road? That’s really simple living I would image?

Hey there Rosy,
See you ’round.January 2, 2010 at 7:52 am #449234
Thanks for warm welcome . I do love being on the move, seeing new towns and meeting new people. We generally stay put for a month or two so in 2 years we haven’t been too far. Hubby works a bit as we go doing web design work and I make a little money sewing bags and doing mending/alterations with my trusty sewing machine. After working in an office for about 30 yrs this life is wonderful. We’re not following a route, just go to places where we would like to see. After spending a lot of time on coast, we have loved being inland for the first time and travelled from Wellington, NSW up to Barcaldine, Q but it started getting too hot and it was only Aug. So we’re going to see what south is like. We’re at Mittagong for a month to try to thin out the remainder of our stuff in storage here. 2 years ago I couldn’t part with some things but now hanging on to them seems absurd. Funny, the less I have the happier I am which is just as well as we won’t have many $ to start again. But I think that this is what our journey is teaching us.:DJanuary 2, 2010 at 9:17 am #449235
Hi… sounds like you are on a great adventure! I would choose somewhere between Mullum & Alstonville, maybe Bangalow type area, if I could! Have you been to those areas? Have fun!January 2, 2010 at 10:36 am #449236
Hi! :wave:January 2, 2010 at 7:25 pm #449237
Welcome! We spent 4 years on the road in our Kombi…although that was a loong time ago now. Amazing isn’t it, how little one really requires. I now have a house fullof crap again and am still working out just how that happened 😆January 2, 2010 at 8:53 pm #449238
Hooray! Finally managed to add a pic of one of my bags to my signon. I love creating them using bits & pieces of remanants…though I’ve replaced hoarding books, photos, clothes, etc with hoarding bits of material, zips & braids.
Hi Dixiebell, I loved the Bangalow area too. We stayed in Murwillumbah for 6mths over winter/spring 2008 looking around the whole area and again on our way south just 2mths ago. Really liked it up there except for the humidity. At least they get plenty of rainfall.January 3, 2010 at 12:22 am #449239
love to do what you are doing, maybe one day as other family responsibilities are over.January 3, 2010 at 3:51 am #449240

Hi Rosy, your life sounds idyllic, something I’ve always wanted to do.
Broke in NSW
Hey Wazza we drove through Broke yesterday on our way back from Batemans Bay.
Lovely and green out there at the moment, very picturesque.
Are you going to do the Putty Rd? It really is lovely
